Default strange station listings on FM display

Well I've been trying to figure out the audio display for FM. When I save stations or autosave them most of the listings on the display are words not station ID or frequency. Usually they are words from last song title played on that station. Very frustrating. Is this just the way it is with these 2007-2010 displays?

I've noticed the same thing on my 08. So I'm interested in any info since the Owners Manual doesn't address this anomaly.

well I've decided I will have to get used to the peculiarity of the audio system and the FM station listings. I will just ignore what is listed in each preset location and transform them, in my mind, into numbers. That way I can approach it like any other car's presets. A small price to pay for what otherwise has been a great driver's car.

What you're seeing on the display is part of an encoded signal transmitted by some radio stations. Many of them have a scrolling 'billboard' that lists the station name, weather, song name, artist, etc. As the car drives away from the transmitter, the signal may get weak enough not to show the full display or freeze at the last bit received.

Your quarrel might be with the station, not so much the car.

Although this is an older post, I too am interested in the answer. I just purchased my first Jag..07 XK and see the same display. Some of the FM stations display the number, others a word or two, sometimes the name of the station. If the stations name happens to be "Denvers Best County" for example, the word "Denver" shows up on the presets. I have had other cars which recognize the artist, etc. but never have shown that where the number should be?? Very confusing!!

It doesn't look like there is a fix to this. At least not one that an owner has discovered. I know there are some Jaguar technicians floating around our forum, do any of them know of a fix to this bothersome peculiarity?
