Default Suggestions for paint wax or sealant?

It is time to pack up and toss my old stocks of waxes and polishes.

Wondering what are the best recommendations for preserving the deep shine of our paint finishes. I was ready to get some of the popular Mequiar's #26 when I read this little note from the manufacturer that it may not be compatible with "some European finishes".

Any comparison experience between using Carnauba wax or the synthetic Sealants for the Jag?

Thanks for any advice,

Albert

Albert, I am a long time user of a product called "Zaino". It is not a wax but a chemical finish that is used by many show car participants. Check out the car maintenance site on this forum for more information regarding this product. With Zaino, you will not believe the appearance of your car and it last a long time between applications. I'm sure Tom Servo will show some pics of his Z06 and you'll see what I mean. As far as using Zaino on the Jag, no problem. I've used it on my Vette, Jag, Toyota and Lincoln. The stuff is incredible. Anyone would think I was an employee of Zaino, but I firmly believe in the product. Best of luck.

Take a look at this post https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...back-ny-54313/

It may be worth contacting Full Throtlle to see what he reccommends.

Thanks for the advice and sorry for not searching the forums for the obviously available answers. I simply did a search on the 07+ forum.

I've used ZAINO since 1999 on all my Corvette's. Here's a thread from the Corvette Forum on one member that is one of the best "detailers" I've ever known
there is a certain c6 out there, in Ill. that is getting a major detail today....... - Corvette Forum

Here's a few photo's of my 08 BG XK after claying and two coats of ZAINO

Here's their web site
Zaino Store

BTW this stuff not only is show car quality but out lasts anything I've even seen. On my 07 Z06 I usually go 6 months between applications
Here's a photo of my 07 Z06 and the ZAINO was 6 months old after being driven all winter in southern Illinois

Thanks Tom, Zaino it is. Your cars look gorgeous. Very interesting that Jaguar would have two different green colors, so close together. From the pictures the color could pass for my Emerald Fire color. I assume in real viewing one should see more of a difference... or not?

Is Zaino available in stores? I see their website...is that the only place to order?

TIA

I answered my own question...only available from their website.

I ordered the total protection kit plus the grand finale spray from their website. We'll see what things look like after I try this...

I have been using a product called, "Finish First". This stuff has done a really good job on my 2008 Indigo Blue XK (three coats netting a deeeeeeeep blue shine). I know I need to post some photos on the website to show it off, but if you read the blogs on this polish it get pretty much the level of review as ZAINO and I believe it is somewhat less expensive...

Couple of important points.

1. Prep the surface, wash in Dawn Detergent (that will remove any and all surface oils to include any Carnuba wax.

2. Then use a Clay Bar

3. Rewash with DAWN

4. Then start applying ZAINO. I mix ONE OUNCE of Z2-Pro and 3 drops of the ZFX curing agent. Apply a very light and thin film. With ZAINO LESS IS MORE. I now get 3 applications from ONE OUNCE. Between applications use the Z6 Detailer Spray and wipe with a micro fiber towel. Finish with the Z8

This sounds like a lot of work and when I have done this it has taken me about 4.5 hours.

After this all you need to freshen the shine with just a light mist of Z6. I re-apply a coat or two of Z2 every 6 months.

That's it. Let me know if you have any more questions.

When I lived in Blighty I used to use the Autoglym line of products. I was able to get the Super Resin Polish and the Extra Gloss Protection here in the US (Amazon believe it or not) and spent a couple of hours today applying them to my 2007 Indigo Blue XKR - looks absolutely stunning! They are both really easy to apply and it's even easier to remove the residue. Can't comment on beading or staying power yet, but if all goes well it looks like I'll be going back to Autoglym products as long as I can get them here.

I'll pop another vote in for Zaino. It's all I've ever used for the last 9 years. Great stuff.

You will just have to try a few and see how they are. I have found over the years one wax won't work on every car. I have 12 cars, don't know why, and one wax won't work on all of them. I have different waxes for different cars. I have recently went to Surf City on the M5 and it looks like glass and really holds up but that won't work on my 1930 Chevy. I have to use a carnauba wax on it but I did put expensive clear on it. Just pick one suggested and go with it. If you don't like it, try another one.

That's exactly what I use on my Jag and on the 300zx before. Always gives a great finish.

Thanks Dave,
That video really shows how it works. I used some of their products on my Ford F150. A guy actually tried to buy it the other day and thought I kept it inside. I told him it stayed outside 365 24hrs a day. He couldn't believe it.

I switched to Griot's products a few years ago and haven't looked back. I use both their polymer product on my pick-up and x3, and the "Carnuba Wax" on the Jag.
