Default Is there any special maintenance interval.

Owning an Old Ferrari has a tendency to be paranoid regarding specific maintenance requirements. The critical ones for us is 30,000 miles but there are also specific items that fall into yearly maintenance. That being said are there any critical time or mileage intervals that need to adhered to other then normal oil/filter changes. In looking at lets say a 2010 or 2011 XK/XKR what mileage would be consider as a time to consider major maintenance or are these cars more like normal type of maintenance. Just as a point of reference my present toy requires a major maintenance at every 30,000 miles which normally costs around $2500. Also a timing belt change every 3 years which costs around $1500. Is the R more maintenance sensitive then the XK? Just trying to get a little background while starting the journey. My previous Jags (XKE,XJ6 ,XJS and Xtype) were pretty normal so would I expect the same out of the XK/XKR.

The drive belts are scheduled for replacement at 105K and 150K miles. Other than that its just every 15K miles for fluids and filters. Runs about $1000 at the dealer.

I don't know. I have never has a dealer do fluids on my car and I bought a serpentine belt from Gaudin and I'll replace that myself like I did the water pump. UNfortunatley I'm to make an appointment with the dealer to make my new TPMS Monitor (installed by myself in 30minutes) compatible with my car. This can only be done using a Jaguar interface machine to the best of my knowledge.

I do plan to have my transmissioin fluid replaced sometime in the next 30K miles and that will have to be done by Jaguar, to put my mind at ease. I have the procedures for doing so from a ZF document, but nope, It'll be done by the dealer. I've gotten lazy.

Filters and oil changes on my 2007 XK are pretty straight fwd. Cabin and oil filters.....also straight fwd and simple. No time spent at a darn dealer which is the same as waiting in line at the bank (not much of that done these days with computers etc).

Damn, and I thought BMW dealers were bad.

Muddydog:
BMW Synth Oil/filter = $50, every 8K miles
ATE Brake fluid= $10, every 2 years
Air filter= $15, every 2 years
Cabin Filter = vacuum and reinsert

Total < $100

Labor = 0, about 2 hours to do the job, including 15 min for a beer.

Hailers:

I believe we have the same 6 SP ZF transmission in my BMW 5 series. In any case, it's about a 2 hour job with parts from thectsc.com. They have everything you need for ZF transmissions. As to doing it, it can be a fiddly job because of the pan screws on some cars.

You can certainly do it yourself if inclined, but if you want someone else to do it, any Jag indy should be very familiar with it. It really is too simple a job for dealer prices, IMHO -- but maybe Jag has special access issues to the ZF pan that BMW doesn't?
