Tires, Rotors, Fuse 19 etc
Had the tires replaced with Michelin Pilot Super Sports under warranty and the difference is dramatic, less noise, no more overnight flat spotting even for the first few miles, NONE. The overall driving smoothness and feel is also greatly improved; even the senior technician could not believe how much better the car drives with the Michelins and he drives new XKRs all the time. I would strongly advocate getting Michelin Super Sports over the Dunlops.
Rotors:
They were found to have had pad residue/contamination from sitting in the other dealer's lot for such a long period; apparently the other dealership removed the protective plastic which covers the brakes and the car sat outdoors for months. The rotors were changed and the brake judder/steering wheel shimmy is gone.
Fuse #19 and the rest:
They also adjusted the driver's side headlight assembly as it was sitting too high by a good half inch above the hood line. Nice quality control Jaguar lol
All that's left is the rattle in the rear quarter window area and the defective weather strip.
For anyone that didn't see my other post the weather strip appears to have affected quite a few 2012's and only on the drivers side from what we saw looking at the dealer's current 12 inventory. The 07-09 xk used cars weather strips were all perfect on both drivers and passenger sides. The service mgr is contacting Jag to make them aware of the defect and hopefully get a good one for me that fits properly on both sides as it should. Hopefully Jag will also get their supplier to correct the defect for the 13's as it looks so crappy this way, almost like it's ripped and hanging.
For those that have not removed fuse #19 which opens up all four exhaust pipes all the time, you're really missing out on some incredible sounds.
The dealership's service dept is to be commended for being very helpful and always having a new 12 XF as a loaner. Didn't really care for the XF though, if I were in the market for a car of that class I prefer the new 5er, E class or new Lexus GS.
