I don't store my cars for winter, but if there is salt on the roads, then I'm not doing that.

It's such a shame as 2 cars I had that I took great cosmetic care of (high school, then college and after) were basically eaten alive in the end by salt. And now that I work on my own cars- there's just something extra hateful about working on cars that have seen salt. Bolts that disintegrate, refuse to budge, wheel hubs that need to be donkey kicked off. I hate the stuff.

I guess I don't have to worry the body as much about it with my Jaguars as they are aluminum, but the undercarriage will still happily succumb in the end.

My intentions are not to tell or convince others to do what I am doing. My change in how I am driving my car is driven by the life clock. Then again the potential of getting covid also adds to the equation. I'm well within the red zone being 76 years old. So I'm not saving any car for other but just want to enjoy it myself. Being aluminum and plastic maybe the corrosion will talk longer then my old jag tin and steel. But then again I don't care and being it will most likely be my last ride I want to have some fun. So I'll enjoy the ride now in the winter where my previous car would be resting in the garage. Then again when I get my vaccine shots I'll be heading south with golf clubs in the trunk and my carry on in the frunk. Have fun as life is short.

I bought my 2012 XKR conv. with 6666 miles on it and sold it with 24,000 miles on it after 5 years ownership. Thats about 3500 miles a year. So I got my C8 Conv. on 12/4/20 with 3 miles on it. I now have 2200 miles on it . A snow squall and some rain is my new outlook. A touchless car wash with an undercarriage rinse does the trick and by the way it's had 3 washes already. Life is shorter then I believed but I have gone through an attitude shift. So enjoy the ride
In the end it is just a car, if you can afford to use it to $0 then so be it, reality is that you will keep it in fine shape regardless of usage. I have a buddy that bought a cheap car to preserve his expensive car, I would rather use the expensive car to nothing before putzing around in the cheap one.

Like you say, ENJOY THE RIDE!
