Enough is Enough!
After waiting patiently for this miserable winter to finally end and to finally be able to drive my beloved Jaguar again. Mother nature throws us another curve. While most of the snow is gone, it melted too quickly and now the flooding begins! The dirt road to my lovely country home is a mud bog. Impassable except by 4 wheel drive. Our beautiful, normally calm Nashwaak river is a raging torrent. With the heavy rain and snow today will probably crest well above flood stage. Several of my neighbors have already had their driveways wash out. The picture was taken (by my wife in the passenger seat) on my drive in. Water is over the road in several spots and the road bed is crumbling in several others. If this were still the 80s at least I would have Valium. My kingdom for a top down ride in the country.
Just got home from work, the 30 minute trip took 4 hours. The highway is gone, my road is gone. a mudslide missed the garage by 100 meters. I'll post some pictures tomorrow, walking 2km in ankle deep mud wears a guy out.
As it often happens we were keeping a careful eye on the river instead of the hills on the other side of the house. The main highway north to south in this area collapsed sending tons of sand and mud down the hill. This blocked our road and missed my garage by less then 100 meters (see this is jag related) We got home after they cleared around 25 dump trucks full of debris but the road is still impassable. If it had gone just a little bit further it might have dammed the river and we would have been in real trouble, along with a few thousand others. BTW the HHR is a company car, really guys I didn't buy that!
Jeff - that is about as close as you want to get. Hope the fridge kept the Moosehead cold, at least. Good luck
Mikey - that's because Stevie Harper hasn't let all the water from Ottawa loose to flow down to Perth. Get you waders on!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the support guys, spring hasn't been any better than winter. I'm thinking of getting a set of these tires for the Jag, might be the only way I get to drive it this year.
Still enough snow to keep the Moosehead cold if the power goes out.
