Default Unofficial Lowered XK Thread

I've learned with all of my cars that nearly every car looks better lowered - just a reduction of fender gap. But a very good looking usually looks downright transformed lowered and becomes exotic!

With such organic, exotic muscular incredible lines the XK has to look absolutely perfect lowered. That being said, why the heck aren't there more people that have lowered or posted pics :-)

To that end let's load this thread up with lowered XK's!

Jesse James seems to have lowered his:

Jesse James Out And About In Orange County - YouTube

Which looks pretty good (although that could be due to the flat black wrap). Shame the illusion is spoiled when he opens the door and you can see the car was originally blue.

Several members here have lowered their XKs. They do look better that way. On the other hand what may be a problem is that the rear suspension (camber) is not adjustable thus the lowering may introduce undesirable tire angles that lead to faster tire wear and reduced handling due to the tire not sitting flat on the road surface. I measured my stock cambers at the rear and it was over 1 degree negative that would probably go more negative on lowering. I would not want any more angle on these low profile, wide tires.

One of the recent post claimed that even the front suspension had insufficient adjustment to bring the tires into the proper adjustment following the lowering.

Are there not any camber kits for the XK? I suspect not because there isn't exactly a large market of folks trying to mod XK's is there...

Hmmm, we're hearing crickets... Perhaps not so many owners have lowered after all. No pics folks?

Do some forum search for "lowered". For one, Ghostrider's posts usually carry his signature pictures of his lowered XKR.

<sighs> There's very little in aftermarket for these cars. And what little there is seems to come from Mother England, so it's even more pricey.

Wow, talk about thread resurrection ;-). This also reminded me that forgot about this thread and never came back to post my lowered pics!

Hopefully it will get full and future owners will have a thread nice and full of pics and info on various kits. Here is my H&R 1.5" drop.

Here's mine. It's for sale. I love it but, would like to try a XKR next. I can't find anyone to turbo or supercharge it. Only 29k miles. Very rare Poplar wood dash with slate and ivory interior. $37,995/Offers. All the options.
On H&R springs. Love it. Smooth ride but handles like a go kart. Dang ...picture loaded cockeyed again..sorry

Hopefully my new wheels show up late next week, the offset of the ADVs was horrible, and I had to place a rush order with HRE. I have the H&R 35MM springs but am moving to Spires Coil over in early January as soon as they are ready and shipped. I'll post some pics when I pick up the car.

Just as as side note what is the widest wheel you guys have seen on an 2010+ XKR? I'm running 305/30/20 and both ADV(np idea of offset) and HRE specified 20x11ET40 rears so I'm hoping these don't end up to wide.

Eagerly awaiting the answer to this Maxima... the 285s just don't cut it back there.

Don't forget to post your offsets after you get your HREs and verify no rubbing!

My HRE sizes and offsets are front 20x9.5 offset ET45 and rear 20x11 offset ET40. I put in a rush order so I'll know today the what day they will arrive. HRE took the time to measure a local XKR and have my shop measure my lowered XKR to get the proper fitments. This fitments includes tires to be used not just the wheels fitting. This is very important as the Michelin Pilot Super Sports tend to bulge due to the rim protector and the 305 are almost as wide as 315s.

I have no idea what the offset of the ADV 1 wheels came out to be, but the actual wheels were sticking out past the quarter panels in the rear. ADV refuse to fix this.. Worst customer service of any company I've ever dealt with. They actually had the nerve to say 305's won't fit this car, even though many people are running them. They told me to stretch a 295/25 across the 11" wheel to shoehorn the wheels in. Stay AWAY from ADV 1, I'll post a full thread with emails texts etc once i get a refund of my 6400 wasted dollars. I've attached a picture of the horrible ADV fitment.

Sorry you had to go through that. I hope HRE gets it right. I am very curious about the 305 or 315 fitting because a 295 wouldn't fit on my 20x10.5's. I run the stock 285. Doesn't look bad or stretched but really wanted at least 295 because a car with 510hp/460lb-ft should have something bigger than 285 IMHO.
