Default Uprated intercooler heat exchanger

Has anyone managed to research, make or locate either a custom or upgraded super charger heat exchanger for the 4.2 XKR?

Is it different vs 5.0? Most likely yes if you expressed it
I have a custom made for 5.0 s/c. Let me know if I can anyhow help.

There are 2 different part numbers referenced, C2P12207 for 2007-2009 and C2C39565 for 2010-2015.

Hopefully someone else knows for certain?

What is your game plan? If you have a company to make a custom IC - there are 3 scenarios:
  • car to measure, fit etc
  • model or uprated IC to make a 1:1 copy
  • current IC + info about space (front/back) to fit it
I can tell you - have not observed any power gains, only better stability of temp when pushed hard, but this is more of an urban legend (no comps) as it was one of my first mods . But having water/meth - not sure if it helps much more. Intake temp are already lower...

Larger capacity heat exchanger with more surface area will help with heat soak, especially in the temperate clime in which I track. Certainly I can disassemble everything and take measurements, was hoping perhaps some else has done this already. There are several suppliers of any specification radiators for very little cost here, but I'd need to supply measurements, inlet/outlet, etc.

Have to dig through the threads however I do remember seeing a xf owner putting a lower secondary heat exchanger unit in looked pretty cool as was visible behind the mesh in his bumper

I would bet, it was rather an additional oil cooler or something like this (vs IC).

Not for the 4.2, but I have the Paramount HE and it's not worth the money. You can find double pass radiators with the same core dimensions and outlet locations on Jeg's for $250ish. You'll have to weld tabs to it, but the tabs Paramount welded on looked like they were made in a high school wood shop. The welds were contaminated, and there were file marks where they chamfered the edges and burrs left on the holes they drilled. Very, very amateur home-made quality of work and if it was something I was ever going to have to look at on a regular basis, I'd have returned it.

*edit- I still have the OEM 5.0L HE I can take picture of and get measurements from if you want.

Looks like I’m going to have to design my own. Most important, like with any mod, is making certain there’s a benefit to changes and not actually making the problem worse.

Over 20 years ago I had a mildly modified Toyota MR2 turbo JDM gen3. Due to the limited space and restricted size of the stock air to air intercooler you can't easily go for a larger intercooler.

With a GReddy turbo (it came with the car) I could only run about 13psi of boost before the car starts to ping due to higher inlet temperatures. We use a water/alcohol injection system and a 5 litre separate water tank in the boot.
Water started to be pumped when we see 10 PSI boost and max water flow at 20 PSI of boost. With water injection we could safely run 20 PSI of boost without pinging. We did run a little less fuel / run it leaner and allow a little more advance timing. The Haltech ECU allows easy tuning.

The MR2 turbo only weighs 1200kg and about 390-400hp at the wheels so it was a quick little car and still usable without breaking things.
