You would get an axle stand under just as easily, it's the second lift that gives it the advantage over stands.

Also no use if you need to take a wheel off.

Really neat idea though, but probably more appeal for mobile mechanics, recovery drivers or the more able home mechanic than most people that just like to do what they can themselves (like me).
You said your getting your rear box on Monday, are you fitting your self,

If you mean being able to lift it further once it's on the stand then yeah - but if it's on axle stands then you can always jack up one corner at a time a bit further, set the axle stand up a notch then repeat for any other corner(s).

I'll probably get a mate to give me a hand but yeah, should be able to do that on axle stands on the driveway rather than paying a garage to do it.

You could but then you would be up on very high stands which won't be very stable IMHO.

That depends on the stands I guess but yeah, that could be an issue.

Having thought about these some more, I think they'd be more useful if, instead of being designed to go under the wheels, they went under the jacking/lifting points.

That may necessitate the use of a low-profile jack but you wouldn't have to jack the car up just to get it onto the things (unless it was really, really low in the first place), just pop them into place, slip the jack under and start lifting. That way you could also use them for wheels-off jobs, dropping a subframe, changing suspension etc. etc.

Edit to add - or better yet, interchangeable top parts, so you can either use wheel platforms (as in the product as it is now) or round, cushioned pads that can go onto the jacking points...

I use 'Blitz Rhino Ramps' ; about $60!. Would be lost without them, don't slide on floor because of rubber pads. You don't need to be level when changing oil!; these work great.

When I bought my RV (15 years ago) added HTW hydraulic jacks; just wonderful, even lifts all 4 wheels off ground for wheel removal and brake work. Can't lift wheels (way too heavy) have to keep wheels upright and use crow bar to put them back on (same technique I use with XK ). Wheel nuts need 140 ft lbs! use steel pipe extension for torque wrench and stand on it! (keep wife away for safety sake).
For putting wheels back on I always align wheel studs with bolt holes first by adjusting the jack.........
Being 80 is not too bad and much better than the alternative!

Cheers, Adrian

I received an email from the "MyLiftStands" manufacturer with the following details, including pricing:

Hi,

I've been building and selling my lift stand, but I’m currently out of stock. The interest has grown and is more than I can keep up with right now, so I currently looking for manufacturing.

Any new orders will be added to a waiting list, with a lead time of about 3 to 4 weeks. The price for a pair (2 stands) is $265.00, shipping is not included. My zip code is 60487 to check the shipping cost go UPS.com. The stands are shipped individually 35lbs each. If you're interested in placing an order, send me your billing/shipping information. I will then email a paypal invoice that is payable with most any major credit card, or you may send a check by mail. The order will be shipped after payment is received.

Seems a bit pricy, compared to ramps or axle stands, but it does look convenient (don't have to back the car out of the garage), and easy (driving up on 4 ramps is probably impossible, can't get one under the car in front of the rear wheels).
I'll have to think seriously about these, as I could possibly get them without a shipping charge, as that ZIP is about 35 miles from my house.
Thanks for the info!

Stumbled across this old thread, and see that the MyLiftStand is now a real and available product.
Although, with a sale price of $200 per corner, I’m not sure it’s that attractive:

An expensive solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Nice.

Humm... One of those for $200 or a PAIR of jack stands for $50... I think the concept is cool, but I can't buy into that value proposition (literally). If the cost ever gets around the $75 price point for a pair, I might consider it.

Well, they are cheaper than a set of quickjacks, but the fact they're under the wheels lessens the utility since you can't do anything that requires having a tire off.

Agreed. These would be more useful if there was an option to use them at the official jack locations on the frame and not just the wheels.
