Default Voice Recognition

I was informed today that VR has been disabled by the factory on 2011 and 2012's but could be reactivated by the dealership.
Don't understand why Jag would disable this great feature; I did read here that it was very problematic? Can anyone here confirm any of this?

I would like to hear more as well...
I have read up on most of the problems (ie complaints from owners) that drew jag into disabling the system on the sly, and owner retaliation opened the ability to re-activate the functions.
I had interest in installing the VRM to my car, but very little technical information about the system can be found...

Ok, spoke with my SA today and he said the new 2012 XF's and XJ's have a whole new system which is supposed to be a huge improvement. The 2012 XK's still have the old system which can be activated by the dealer notifying Jag and then turning it on via the service laptop system.

If Jag disabled this and there's not even a mention of it in the owner's manual it must be pretty bad.
