My personal vote goes to the 2007-2011 vents. They're bigger, more noticeable, more unique amd fit the body's curves better imo. Plus to me, they look like a jet fighter's side vents
Only thing I can say for the 2012-2015 is that they look closer to Aston Martin's, but that doesn't make them better

There seams to be one type of vent missing the 2010 model year did not have a turn signal incorporated in the vent unit it was in the rear view mirror

I prefer the 2007-2009 ones because they are chrome coloured. The ones on my 2010 are body coloured.

2008-2009 Portfolio side vent is also missing.

Perhaps you mean fender design?

For me, I like the bug eye of the 2007-2011, however, the reflector in the headlight makes it look rough.

I wish that could have gotten a better aesthetic design from the factory.

I prefer the 2012-15. For a GT I like to see them blend in with the fender (wing). Are they actually functional or fake?

Here's the 2008-2009 XKR Portfolio vent. Enlarge the photos to see the details. They're illuminated turn signals, highly detailed polished cast aluminum with mesh screens, and are much more expensive than the standard vent.

My vote goes to the vertical design because it is unique to Jaguar. The horizontal design is everywhere. Of the various versions of the vertical design, the Portfolio vent is clearly the best. Unfortunately, it is ridiculously expensive for a piece of trim. But so are wedding rings!

While I agree the Portfolio vents are a higher quality, I believe the 2010-11 body colored vents without turn signals are the most appealing to eye, I just don't like the way the aluminum vents stand out.... But that's the opinion of a guy that removed a lot of the chrome on his car as well...

Different strokes for different folks. Preferred and best are not synonymous.

I prefer the earlier vertical vents as well. Like Stuart S said, the horizontal integrated slits are on every car now from economy cars on up. The vertical vents are also a tie to other Jaguars in the past like the classic XJ series. Just like exhaust tips now on every car are squared off now instead of round or oval (which I also don't like), when a design feature becomes a cliche that appears on every car, it loses its appeal to me and is no longer unique.

2010-2011. Vertical without the turn signal are the best. Anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong.

I like them the body color but those aluminum ones are nice.

I'm biased;-) '07. The simple and elegant, unique form really stands out.
(But recall I love the classic antennae too)
I do really like the portfolio vent... I wonder what it would look like on racing green... After all everyone likes the upgraded hood vents.

While on this note and feeling feisty... if I see another car with rope lighting around the headlights...

Only when coupled with a hole in the muffler.

Another fun thread for a change!
I don't see how one would be inclined to vote for any version other than what on one currently owns. Having had ownership of both style models I lean toward my current 12 MY but I was just as fond of the 07's.
This is right up there with 'what is your favorite color' or interior trim. lol
