2007 XKR

Has anyone come up with a fix other than removing the dash. Like blowing out te tube from under the chassis?

It is worth reading in its entirety, as it discusses several possible DIY fixes to the clogged A/C drain and will give you the pros and cons of those fixes. I'm a firm believer in trying all the fixes in the order of least-to-most difficulty and expense until one works. The most expensive, of course, is paying the dealer big bucks to fix it. But then you know it was done right and won't recur and you have a warranty.

Your suggestion about blowing compressed air up the end of the drain tube theoretically should do the trick, but there are access problems - cramped quarters and the duckbill shape of the tube end. It appears to be difficult, if not impossible, to get an air hose up the duckbill. Instead of blowing compressed air up the duckbill, try going the other way.

The easiest approach is to pressurize the A/C system in the direction of the airflow and (hopefully) blow the duckbill open. There are 2 ways to do this. Here is Plan A:
1. Park with engine running
2. Set vents to upper (face) only and then close all your upper A/C vents
3. Set your A/C all the way down to max cool and inside air
4. Turn your fan speed knob clockwise all the way up
Run for several minutes and then look under your car for water puddles. If you're lucky, you cleared the drain line. This is not a permanent fix, so you'll have to repeat the process monthly. This worked for me (so far) but others report mixed results. If this doesn't work, try Plan B.

Plan B is a variation of the above, but with the engine off. Blow compressed air into one of the upper air vents after having completely sealed all the other vents. The vent into which the compressed air hose is inserted must also be sealed. Bursts of air should open the drain hose, hopefully, at the end.

Start calling Jaguar dealers and see which one offers you the best price to fix it correct. If you can get it done for under 1K and they'll dry the rugs & pads in an autobody dryer; go for that option right away.

 

There should be a Sticky as to the pros and cons of buying a 2007-2009 XK/XKR or the 2010 XK/XKR... If it was read, it could possibly help those who were on the fence with possibly going the extra bucks for the improved 2010+ cars. There are so many posts on a/c drainage issues on this forum, and this info might help.
