Default Weird Problem

I had my top replaced on my 2009 xkr Thursday. When I picked it up they had told me the battery died while it was there. I haven't driven it since it was picked up, and this evening I noticed the tail lights and front amber light on, the car will not start or open by remote and there is a hum coming from the dash. Hopefully it just needs a battery replacement. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Thanks for any replies.

Regardless of how old your battery is, it's probably toast. You can TRY to regenerate it by hooking it up to a real (not maintainer) battery charger for at least 48 hours, while disconnected totally from the car.
If that doesn't do it, buy a new AGM battery and battery maintainer. That will undoubtedly fix all the maladies.

This is most definitely your battery and nothing else - and I have seen these exact symptoms in a friend's 2007 XK while on a road trip. We had the battery replaced and the problem was solved instantly, never to return (and he then fitted a CTEK charger to the car).
One thing: make sure you can open the trunk with the key so the battery can be replaced!

Good! Yet another example of the odd symptoms that a low battery can produce in these cars...and it is still so difficult to convince some owners that ANY electrical malfunction is most likely related to low battery voltage rather than to the components themselves. These cars are very, very reliable, but also very dependent on full voltage all the time. Because the symptoms appear before any evidence of failure of the engine to start, owners are reluctant to accept this simple fact. They would rather just believe that they have a lemon.

After thorougly reading through the forums before buying, I try not to let my XK go more than 4 days without taking it for a drive. Its been seven months of trouble free ownership.
