I drove the Jag up to Dallas last weekend to participate in an SCCA rally. It was raining all the way and while I have never noticed the problem in city driving, on the IH, the brakes got wet enough that when applying them, it took about a second for the pads to dry to rotors and have working brakes again. Has anyone else ever noticed this?

Big time.... My XK had slotted, and the first time I drove the XKR with OEM, it was like a serious panic attack

Yes, the amount of time varies though.
Deep puddles can take what feels like an eternity.
Hard rain I feel it, but not overly concerning.

Unlike most other cats, Jaguars love water - the deeper the better to swim in!

I knew Jaguars liked water but as this was the first time I had driven mine in anything but a light sprinkle it was disconcerting. I am now informed and will be aware of feature for future swims.

Pads would only help if one of the two didnt have the center cleaning slot. Nothing to do with the material... Technically we are talking about the pad hydroplaning for a short time before moving all the water out of the way.
