Default What cell phones work

We've been talking about cell phone issues and although you can find out from Jaguar what works maybe we should have a poll taken where we can get some real world feedback on what works and what doesn't. We don't know or assume there may be slight differences in the years it would be nice to know what works. Maybe we would need , year , cell phone mfg. SW level , pairing issues , does it load contacts and any other bit of info. Now I am a dinosaur so my 4 year old Samsung flip phone had no problem with all of it's features in my 2012 XKR.

MY: 2007 XKR convert., since this week latest possible software update installed for telephone-/ and touchscreenmodule.

Iphone 5 with IOS 7.1.2 software

I've had pairing problems for 2 years since I updated my Iphone 4 2 years ago and no Jag-mechanic or dealer could help me with my problem.

My last post in XKR/S Iphone pairing problem:

"Today I got my XKR convert 2007 my back from mot. My friendly mechanic had updated the telephone update with the latest possible software. He tried to pair a phone, no way did he succeed.
At home I tried to pair myself, the 1000th time, and after the third attempt, holding my iphone 5 over the middle armrest, my XKR paired with my phone. Two lost years of trying, buying a Jabra freeway as alternative module, lots of frustration later, it finally works.
With more options in the touchscreen available.

Before the pairing succeeded I deleted all known Bluetooth registrations in my Iphone.

Don't despair, give it a try is the motto."

iPhone, Blackberry, and Galaxy are the only three I have seen work. Hands-free phone implementation is horrible on the XK. Speaker/MIC sucks as does the phone selection.

I have an iPhone 5s and it pairs quickly (even if the phone is on my bench in the garage the car still recognizes it), contacts are present, all the functions work last 10 calls received, made, etc and sounds great!

I've never had an issue with my 2010. Both iPhone 4s and 5s worked great.

The poor selection of phones along with poor quality of the microphone were factors towards trading in my XK. Jaguar, are you listening???

The car phone speaker quality is fair but complaints from recipients on hearing me is constant. I too am a Dinosaur and have a Pantech flip phone that will soon be updated to an iphone 6.

Yup, exactly. All the Evora has is an Alpine unit from Best Buy and it blows away what Jag puts in...

I have a Galaxy Note 4 and that works fine, though it initially dropped out and I had to fiddle with the settings to get it right.

My Galaxy S4 pairs and works, but all lists including the contacts are gibberish.

You know -- something else I should point out here -- 5 years in tech is ancient technology. Bluetooth is something that has had its specs updated and massaged as time has gone on. I'd wager that the BT unit installed in the 07 XKs is not the same as what's in my 10 is not the same as the 14s. Often, you need to pair technology of similar age in order for it to work correctly and anything else is hit or miss.

2007 XKR. Works with my Samsung Galaxy S5. It also worked with my Droid 4 a while back. Neither phone shows contacts on the screen... just garbled letters.

I would tend to agree with you with regards to technology advancing at a fairly fast rate. However, for whatever reason even as time marches on, Jaguar's technology seems to be stuck in the Paleozoic era.

There are no Jaguars in Paleozoic museums yet. Perhaps that will change when scientists read your post.

07 XKR. Mic is so bad I don't use it. Embarrassing on a 94k car. If I knew the specs and location for the mic I'd change it. Not to mention for 25 cents more they could have used a better BT chip to stream HD audio, but nooooo. Surprised it didn't have a cassette player.

Galaxy 4S connected fine.

Jaguar should sub-contract the electronics to someone who can make something decent. The sub out other stuff yet want to tackle something that comes out below average...
