Love the lights/eyebrows. Sadly, my pods on the '07 XK only use two weak W5W's for parking lights. Replaced with LED's as DRL's. Needed to make them bright enough to be usable in daylight, and it worked. Didn't want to leave the low beam on all the time.

Cheers

I removed orange reflector when headlights were opened for lens cleaning. DRL is led neon strip installed on the outside, on upper rim of headlight, just beneath bonnet edge. I saw that from another member in one of XKR facebook groups.

Fiamm Trumpets seem kinda girly to me. "squeek-squeek" type of thing.

It's all about being heard in time. Maybe it is quieter in Connecticut than Houston. I would put an air horn from a freight train on mine if it would fit.

Are you saying the speed of sound is faster in a louder horn?

Why would anyone want to be faster, louder, and horny?

I lived in Texas for 3 1/2 years, and I understand this completely.

Everything from Texas is bigger ... even if it's in Alabama!

World record Texas Longhorn - 10 feet 7.4 inch wingspan!

Dipped diamond finished gyrodynes (thinking a rear bumper lower lip would really complete the look)

I think it's better than being the guy with the beautifully quiet horn that the child about to run out in front of you doesn't hear.

They are pitched at a frequency human hearing finds incredibly 'jarring' when reproduced to that level of loudness, which is why they are so effective. Genuine Fiamms are unbelievably loud.

Not so much what I have done to my X150 today, but what I have ordered for my X150 in preparation for the ease of lockdown/summer months. Mostly service parts as such but she should be pretty sorted once all have been installed.

- Varta SILVER Dynamic battery
- Jaguar OEM Front & Rear Brake Pads (Jurid front, ATE rear)
- Oil, Oil Filter & Pollen Filter
- Genuine Jaguar OEM Floor mats (£135...absolute daylight robbery for what they are IMO but a necessary evil)

I felt guilty spending on the XKR and not my daily driver Insignia so treated that to a full service kit (Oil, Oil Filter, Pollen Filter, Fuel Filter & Air Filter) to complete whilst I have the spanners out this weekend or next dependent upon when all the various parts arrive.

Thought about it shivering in the storage unit. Weather looks crappy for at least two more weeks.
CHECK THAT. Accuweather says we won't see temperatures at or above 60° until the first week of April.

I’m constantly changing my ride height I’ve had xk, xkr and eibach springs in my car at some point of its life time .

The xk springs way too soft and floaty for my driving style although without a doubt the most comfortable .
XKR springs a fairly good compromise of handling and comfort .
Eibach these are deadly absolutely brilliant handling however extremely harsh for our roads and it’s a 20mm drop from standard height .

Currently I have the xkr springs in the rear and eibach springs upfront with a 10mm spacer .

Installed mendrel bend X-pipe based on XKRS and Old Jaguar tune. Thanks to Cambo the XKR feels like a completely different Jag.

The XKR throttle mapping is now on point. The car feels eager to go.

If you ever ride a high powered motorcycle, you know that just a small throttle input makes the bike want to accelerate. That instant feel that you are riding a high tech monster of an engine begging to be ridden hard. The XKR engine now feels the same way. It eggs you to push harder on the throttle.

Hand on heart this is best value mod ever. You get the mechanical sound as well as the instant throttle response.

Default Emergency key redux

Back story is when I got the car about a year ago, it only had one fob with an emergency key that didn’t work (it didn’t go into the lock without a lot of effort). Speculation on this forum and from myself was the key was for a different car that the seller had just stuck in the fob as a place to hang the fob from your key chain.
Jag Dealer was my best (and very expensive) local choice so ordered another fob and emergency key. The key took months to arrive due to COVID lockdown in UK but finally arrived so now I’m pretty happy with 2 fobs and 1 emergency key that all work. And the seller covered the cost of the second fob and key as part of the original deal.

A couple weeks ago, I decided it would be nice to have another working emergency key for the second fob. I order a blank on EBay for like $7 US. I contacted a local locksmith who said they couldn’t get the blank and wouldn’t cut a customer supplied blank due to “liability “ issues! That seemed silly to me...
Found another locksmith a couple towns over who was more than glad to cut my blank. His initial attempt wouldn’t even go in the lock and, in comparing the master to the copy, it looked like ,while the 10 cut profile was fine on the copy, the depth of material thickness removed was not as much as on the master (about the thickness of a dime). He increased the depth of the cut and key works fine now.
So I pull out the “original “ non-functional key that came with the car and see the profile looks good on it too (never thinking that key would ever work) but the cut depth was also less than the master key. The locksmith increased the cut depth on that key as well. Now happy to have 3 working emergency keys!

Attached is a nice description of laser cut keys (aka sidewinder keys) I found in researching the spare key. Jaguar keys are on page 9.
