Default What do you guys think of Italian Racing Red/Charcoal interior?

Considering one currently after striking out on 3 other cars. Neither IRR nor a charcoal interior were at the top of my list of preferences, but the history of the car is solid, the mileage is low, and the dealer is very reputable, so am considering it. I can't see it in person, so thought I'd check in with you guys.

Why does it matter what others think? Tastes vary, and it's your money so it's your decision. If everyone else loves it and you think it's fugly, would you still buy it?

IRR is one of my favorite colors because it reminds me of my 1960 Corvette.

After owning a black car, I would never buy another one. Although I believe there are more black cats than any other color, popularity won't convince me to buy one.

The only problems I see with it are...
1) Not a convertible
2) Not an /R
Other than that, go for it. Colors are fine and great and wonderful

Was asking to get someone's opinion who had seen the IRR in person. I've seen a black, blue, and white XK in person, but never a red one.

I've never owned a black car, but black XKs are great looking to me. Is your reluctance to not own another due to difficulty in keeping clean, or just a 'been there and done that' deal?

Beautiful Vette, by the way!

I had the same color combo on my XE. Beautiful color as all the similar red metallics Jag does. The chicken feet wheel pattern are not my favorite.

I have a 2012 XKR IRR on Black/Red interior. The red looks great and imo is much better than Salsa red. One thing to note is that it dulls easily and when IRR dulls it doesn't look too special. When it's clean and shining, though, I think it is hard to beat. The only other colours I would ever consider for an XKR are BRG and Kyanite Blue

I was looking for a base XK in this color when I was shopping... hard to find and I wound up with black, so if you like it... go for it!

I like the color personally. Nothing about it puts me off. I looked for one in Radiance Red extensively when I was in the market. IRR is more subdued than Salsa Red. Nice looking car btw. I hope you land it.

Thanks! I've seen IRR and IMHO it's gorgeous. IRR replaced Salsa Red, which I also like. Taste also varies with age, and at this stage of the game I prefer less flash and more class, so Shadow Gray with Ivory and Slate are at the top of my list. And because it's a convertible (without Michelins), I expect Cee Jay will approve even though it's not a 5.0L.

As for black cars, I've been there, done that. My 1993 Acura Legend Coupe looked great when it was clean and polished. But it didn't stay that way very long. Most people don't realize that Atlanta is in a pine forest, and in the Spring the thick yellow pine pollen is everywhere. And it's worst on a black car. After the pine pollen season ends, along comes all the other pollens that, while not yellow, are just as obvious on a black car. Other colors simply don't show every speck of dirt the way black does.

Yes, the Vette was beautiful - and a death trap. I sold it after 42 years because I didn't want my son to kill himself in it.

Don't rush to judgment. Determine what you want, and be patient. The One is out there. Good luck!

And neither 1 nor 2 is a problem. Quite the opposite! 😊

IRR is my next favourite next to black on an XKR. This is my 3rd black X150.

Love the red! Don't worry, all of us already own an X150 so you are safe.

It is a personal thing of course, but I like it. There are so many XK(R)s in the 'duller' colours that it is refreshing to see one in a bright colour. I love my Lunar Grey/Ivory and it suits the car IMO, but a bright colour also suits the nature of the car and is perhaps more unusual. Red is also, of course, the only 'true' sports car colour anyway, especial when used in conjunction with the magic words 'Italian' and 'Racing'. 😉 If the car checks out in other respects, I would go for it!

Salsa Red is my least favorite shade of red offered by Jaguar.

I'm a big fan. Go for it if you love it.
