What GLUE to use??
Hi everybody, new XKR owner here, 2008 with 92K miles but looks like it has 5k miles, outside and inside. Prior owner must have been Casper the
Ghost because the seats and center arm rest are almost perfect. My last car was a 911 with 19K miles and the leather looked about as new as Jaguar leather, so this was a nice change.
Sorting out the cars has been simple and successful except for one thing.......... seems that the PO hit a deer and it caused the right front headlight to snap the two tabs that secure it to the frame. He bought a replacement light but didn't know that they come with and without the Turning Motor, and got one without. While it looks fine, the dashboard light blinks constantly.
His old light (which he saved, along with the pieces of tabs) needs to go back onto the car. Prior to doing a lot of work making the tabs correct, I hooked up the light and.....rats, the blinking light continues. That's another problem for later.
For now, I need advice on what kind of adhesive will bond those plastic pieces. SuperGlue? nope. Epoxy is still soft after 2 hours. Heat/flame should have melted and then cooled to a solid piece, but didn't.
Can somebody suggest an adhesive that will dry hard and bond that kind of plastic? There is ample room to lather the stuff on in order to make a secure connection, but who has found a good adhesive?

Glob on some JBWeld all around it, it will stay put for a good long time. If you don't want to use the liquidy two-part stuff, get a stick of the moldable squish tube stuff. It's like a stiff clay after mixed, you can form it into any shape and it won't move. It hardens like a rock.

great idea, and I've used JBWeld before and forgotten how hard it can get. Instead of focusing on a clean patch, the JBWeld can be formed around the clips and then sprayed black if need be. It can also be filed and sanded to make a better appearance. Thanks, Cee Jay
I'm perplexed with the type of black plastic being used; maybe it has teflon in it. Super Glue doesn't harden, nor does Gorilla Epoxy, and flame that melts it doesn't allow the pieces to fuse when pushed together. It would be great to have a glue that works, because JBWeld is great stuff, just is more unsightly than a simple glue.
