Default What module wakes up when you open the door and creates a buzzing /humming noise?

Hi All,

I have noticed every time I jump into the vehicle and it wakes up there is really annoying buzzing / humming noise. It sounds like it is coming from one of the modules. Does anyone have this same issue?

You are probably hearing the HVAC sensor aspirator.
It memory serves, it was the subject of a TSB on the X-Type that disabled by disconnecting due to customer concerns and power drain on the battery.

It is indeed the aspirator fan on the dashboard. This fan runs the instant the door handle is pulled and remains in operation until about 15 minutes after the engine is shut off. This is intentional; it is a function of the climate control system - it is not a significant drain on the battery. If it is noisy the fix is very often just a matter of cleaning that small fan. But if too noisy it is easily replaced. Disconnecting it will affect the performance of the HVAC system - not a good idea!

Do you by chance have a PN or where it is located?

See Post #2:

A simple adjustment might be all that's needed.

FYI.... Once the door is open, the stack of 3-4 devices to the right of the battery start warming up at a fast rate. Of course you would need to have the battery compartment cover off to see this. It's amazing how warm it gets. No wonder why there are so many issues with the XK having premature battery replacements. If there is too deep a drain for too long a time, the battery can no longer be saved with a charge. This can easily happen if the car is in a shop and the tech doesn't pay attention to opened doors for a prolonged period of time.

On our XK you can hear both the HVAC fan spinning and, at a slighter lower volume, the DVD navigation player whirring away.
