Default What is your MPG?

In my 650 I consistently beat everyones MPG...on the low side. I always averaged around 12.5, it seems the Wife and I both have lead feet. Everyone else had much better MPG, usually 18 mpg or so.

I reset my counter when I first got my XK. Here is my average, happily I have beat my personal best low score set on my 650. Since I drive mostly with Sport Mode engaged, Trac On, and tranny in S mode I guess I am in full gas guzzler mode. No problem, I didn't buy a Prius.

I guess you really keep your foot in it. I'm doing 24+ on long trips at 70-80 mph with my 2012 XKR. On normal weekly around town I usually get 19.

Yeah, I like to jump on it pretty hard from a stop. This is 95% in town driving.

I'm usually at about 13l/100km to 14l/100km which converts to 17 - 18mpg. I do tend to give it a squirt and it is mainly city driving, but then I use higher octane fuel (Aust 98, which is different to US octane ratings).

Doing some longer runs over a week I've had it as low as 11l/100km which would be about 20mpg. But when it was new and I was driving it harder it was running at about 18l/100km.

It is actually on a par with or better than my previous v8 NA Jags, and better than the s60R volvo (5 pot high pressure turbo) that I had a few years back, which was wickedly fast at the time.

Just checked mine, over the last 6000 kms I got 14.6 per 100 klm that equals 19.3 MPG for an imperial gallon or if my maths is correct approx 16 miles to a US gallon

I do about 75% highway, 25% city/stop-n-go type driving and use 93 octane. Car tells me that I've been averaging 23.8 miles per gallon for the past 1500 miles.

Comparing to the numbers every one else is getting I must have someone breaking into my garage and stealing my gas! I shall start security patrol

Since I don't care about optimizing my MPG this is just a fun thread for me, it was the same results in my previous forum. There were extreme lows and extreme highs based on your driving style and whether there was highway in the mix. Gas mileage and tires, those are topics I don't complain about how quickly they are consumed in a performance GT style car. And I use 93 US Octane also.

One contributing factor is that exhaust note, it is just intoxicating compared to my BMW. Under full throttle and up to redline it just sounds so wonderful!

Don't worry I'm in the same boat as you I'm always use the 4.2 na in manual mode and get 17-17.5l/100km which is just over 13mpg I'm surprised how much these cars drink through the fuel. I also have a 5.5l merc with only uses 14l/100km or 16mpg

Are you in Europe? I feel for the guys over the ocean considering how much more they pay for petrol.

I consistantly get 22 .2 mpg in my '07 Coupe; used to get 24 before I changed to Hankook tires (prev. Dunlops) BUT Hankook's ride so smoothly and quite.
With same driving pattern I get 22.5 in my 2012 Honda CRV!
The Jaguar is really a magnificent driving machine in all respects..................and it isn't bad looking either !

Cheers, Adrian

Ha, 27.7, that is amazing. What did you do, reset the counter while coasting down a hill with a tailwind??? The only way I get those kinds of numbers is if I reset while on the interstate in the first minute, before the averages kick in!

Haha, well maybe a tailwind but we don't have much for hills here in Iowa ;p. But that was when I first got the car and I was doing a tank of easy driving to see what kind of mpg I could get. I usually average 18-24, a high of 27.7 and a low of 4 LOL

I must be pretty lucky. I average 21 or 22 in my average city/highway mix. I've taken it on a few longer highway trips and got 29 for a full tank. I'm sure I could break 30 if I kept it under 65. It really is amazing for a 300hp V8.

Hey BigHenderson, go Hawks! I'm born and raised in Eastern Iowa.

This thread makes me feel better about my mpg when I first got my car I was averaging 19mpg. i have a fair amount of highway on my daily commute, so it has gotten better. Here is a pic of my high score, 24.8 mpg. My lowest on a trip was 11mpg.

Overall average is 20-21mpg. Not a lead foot, generally relaxed cruising.

Virtually all of my driving is "city", since we take the MDX on trips. My 2013 XJ 5.0L (SC 470 HP, 8-speed, stop/start) consistently averages over 16 mpg but my 2009 XKR 4.2L (SC 420 HP, 6-speed) consistently averages under 14 mpg.

I expected the smaller displacement 4.2L engine to get better mileage than the larger 5.0L. Atlanta is very hilly so I must be driving the XKR only uphill and the XJ only downhill.

Stuart

P.S. Seriously, the 5.0L engine with direct injection, massive low-end torque, and the 8-speed tranny usually runs under 1500 rpms around town, but the XKR runs at much higher rpms given the same speed.

I've only driven 1500 miles since July, when I bought my XKR 5.0 (2011MY) but my average is 20mpg with most of my trips being relatively short in town and rural areas. When I've used the motorway for a longer trip it's been closer to 23mpg. I tend to drive with a light right foot with just the occasional burst when I need to hear that exhaust symphony then it drops to around 15!
