Quicksilver and SuperSprint are two higher end systems that are cherished.

Another, less expensive, alternative, is to find an XKR owner that has upgraded to an aftermarket exhaust, and purchase their no longer needed back-box.
Swapping your XK back-box, for the XKR back-box, is a fairly simple swap, although you will need to also change your rear valence as well, as the quad tips require a narrower valence.
You get a great look, and a more aggressive sound, as you now have essentially eliminated the rear muffler (the diverter valves are spring loaded to the open position, and you don't have the vacuum source to close them).
I've read that the XK with the XKR back-box is actually louder than the XKR, as the XK only has a single center silencer (XKR has 2), and the XK has a higher compression ratio.
All I can say, is my 4.2L XK with an XKR back-box, puts a smile on my face.

There are no other (e.g. engine) mods necessary.

If you post a 'Wanted To Buy' (WTB) ad in the classified section of these forums, you may find one, that's how I got mine from another member.
Also keep an eye on eBay, they pop up there from time to time as well.

Take a look at the Mina system. I have it on my 12 NA vert and get lots of good comments about it. Some from XKR owners. Keep in mind that the 2010 and newer XKs have the 5.0 liter engine while the older models have the 4.2 liter engine.

No, but keep in mind if you don't buy an engineered system, you car could drive like a total dog. I put two Magnaflow style mufflers on my XK and it drove so horribly, I was in near tears. I couldn't wait to get it off and go back to OEM. This car needs some back pressure. One thing you can also do as kind of mentioned already is put an "X" pipe instead of the resonator. I did not notice much difference with it installed, but other members have and I just think it makes sense to do regardless.

With exhausts (regardless of the car) it tends to be "you get what you pay for" and if you do buy a top end exhaust, they hold their value pretty well should you decide to revert it before trading your car in. Also, you need a valance as mentioned if you are going to quad pipes.

Shame as the XK muffler is quite nice looking and Jaguar is known for a quieter engine, but who wants a quiet engine sports car?

It could be that because the XKR exhaust I put on my XK is OEM, I'm finding that it seems to drive better than before.
Seems quicker off the line, less constrained. But then maybe its just the sound effects, and that big grin on my face is blocking all other senses.

Rockaway Naye - The ETG tune I referred to is an electronic tune that is "customized" to your particular vehicle. ETG is located in Beverly Hills, CA. There contact information is as follows: US Head Office: 9107 Wilshire Boulevard Suite 450, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. Telephone (877) 813 9700.
Ask for Jag Gills. Their website is ECU Tuning Group | We are North America's leading tuner.

I don't know if they have dealer in your area. And, they are a member of this forum. Good luck.

OP, does your stock exhaust have the 2 silencers in the middle section? I'm selling a modified OE middle section with X-pipe in the classifieds section, PM me if your interested. I think that with the XKR rear box would be just the sound you are looking for

Here's the Mina Gallery exhaust on my 2007 4.2 NA. If you listen with headphones, you'll be able to hear the depth of the sound. Cheap computer speakers don't do it justice. And the system's appearance is beautiful, polished stainless. I'm constantly getting compliments on the car's sound.

I only changed the catalytic converters to 300 cell cats. EVERYONE enjoys that... it does mean the premium sound system need be played a little louder.

Default whats the best exhaust system to buy

Like kj07xk I have done the same on mine I have a n/a 4.2 then fitted up the xkr rear box as we have no vacuum hooked up to the diaphragm the valves stay open permanently I'd try this first before spending a lot of funds on aftermarket product. Also in terns of performance the jaguar exhaust is extremely well designed and free-flowing the main restriction is actually lies within the standard cats ..
