Default Whiny sound when pressing the go button.

Something I’ve wondered since I got the car.
(08 XKR)
When I press the gas, not hard just in regular traffic, the engine whines. For a while I assumed it was the supercharger noise, but no clue.

This morning on my way to drop her off to install the engine/transmission mounts and new coolant reservoir, I had everything off so I could hear nothing but the car.
Took a little video showing the whine when I touch the gas pedal and no sound when I don’t.

Is this just the normal sound of a supercharged 4.2?

It's hard to tell from my cellphone, but I'd have an ASE-Certified technician listen to your engine.
Good luck

Thanks! Just emailed the shop where she’s at and asked them to drive it and listen.
But figured any 4.2L SC owner could say “yeah they all sound like that” or not.

Totally forgot. But confirmed that’s the normal SC sound.
Just got back from indie shop. New engine mounts and trans mount. Oh and coolant res and fresh coolant.

Told him to take it for a spirited ride before I got there and listen for anything odd.
He said a couple times he heard a slight vacuum leak whistle, but not reproducible on demand.
Gonna buy a smoke test kit and learn to use it.

Good news is that with new mounts all vibration is gone from startup and the steering wheel at idle.
Now it’s under me **** that’s vibrating.
gonna attribute that to a roaring v8 and ignore.
