Default Will a child car seat fit in the back?

With a new baby on the way, this may be a deal breaker for my next Jag -- an XK (first choice) or XJ.

Anyone have experience or photos on this subject?

Thanks.

LOTS of experience from a lot of people.
A small seat will fit behind the PAX seat with the front seat way forward. Toddler, probably not.
Others say they put their 12 yo kids in the back, but I'd not be able to do that because at 6-1 I need the front seat all the way back to where it almost touches the rear seat bottom. Shorty drivers, maybe.
If you plan on having your baby grow and won't have another vehicle, an XK probably wouldn't be your best choice.

I assume this will not be your only car? Until my wife and I had our second child, my daily driver was a Mazda roadster--we used my wife's BMW sedan whenever we needed to travel with the baby. This ended up not being a problem for us, and that was back before Uber.

These days we're a family of six, including four kids. My middle children fit fine in the back seat of my XK using booster seats, but my youngest has to ride in our minivan. My oldest no longer fits in the back of the XK--anyone over five feet tall won't have enough headroom to fit.

Congrats on your new addition, my wife and I are expecting our first child any day now!

I tried multiple infant seats in the back of my XKR Coupe and none of them would fit, not even with the front seat folded forward. I’ve come to the conclusion that rear-facing child seats are a lost cause.

Booster seats do seem to fit though, so my daughter will finally be able to ride along in a few years. Until then our Discovery Sport and Grand Cherokee will be perfect for chauffeuring our baby girl safely.

Thanks! I guess I could get the XK and keep the RX for a few more years until the baby girl is booster seat ready.

I frequently cram various 14 year old boys in the back passenger seat for short trips when picking my son and friends up after school or baseball practice. It isn't great, but it works and they don't seem to mind too much. Now, behind my seat is pretty much impossible.

Have not tried a baby seat.

That’s the way to go. It’s pretty nice having a utility vehicle that you can drive on rainy days and much of the winter. It makes driving the XK to work on a sunny Friday all the more enjoyable!

Congrats on the family. You can get an infant seat in there but the deep bucket is a hinderance and will come at passenger seat space. Unless it’s just for short runs, the issue will be all the baby stuff (bags, strollers, etc..). Babies need a valet :-)

i would take the car to a baby store that has a wide variety and tell them you need to fit into this car. They will find a solution.

I made this work (with an airbag kill switch):

I'd add that babies don't stay babies for very long. You may not have to plan a vehicle purchase just to accommodate an infant seat.

My kids are now 15 and 16 and, courtesy of being a shortarse my son of 5'7 fits behind me when I drive (if he's been bad)

Child seats fitted in my x100 but am unsure if they will in the x150 due to the 'bucket' design. But not something I need to worry about now

I have 6 kids and off course the jag is not the family car, however is quite normal that I have to pic up some of the kids from their activities. I use to take the 13 y/o on the passenger seat, the 10 y/o and the 7 y/o on the back with no complains.

Regarding the baby seat I wasn't able to fit the one I have in the XK, but maybe there are other models or a OEM one that does fit. Double check that before making a decision, I had the same dilemma.
