Default Window Tint...

I recently got my XKR windows tinted..Windshield at 55 and everything else at 45. There was a car at the place with a black interior that had done 35...that was to dark. I got the ceramic window film. It has already made a huge difference in the car. Also, I hope this helps the leather on the dash in that the film blocks the UV rays which break down the adhesive under the leather, as well as what UV does to the leather itself.

Does Jaguar offer window tinting as a factory option on these cars (or any)? I was speaking to the tint business owner and he was saying that BMW and Merc tint their cars at the factory and he did not understand why Jag did not do this.

I got the tinting done at Oasis tinting (Atlanta, GA area) Someone else recommended them on the board a while back and they do a great job. Been around fro 24 years.

Have you driven at night yet? I'd think 55 may not be too bad... I work with a lady who has her windshield tinted and she has trouble with it at night. Her tint looks crazily dark though, I'm shocked that she doesn't get pulled over every single time she sees a cop.

Yes, driven at night and very early in the AM...no problems. Vision through the windshield looks normal.

The film I got is ceramic based with come kind of metal in it. Of course, none of this is visible in any way. To me, the 45 on the sides is a good balance between to dark and to light.

55/45 is pretty light actually -- that's likely very classy. I started at 15 and had them remove it for 30. 30 is as close to the legal limit in washington as we can reasonably get. I don't know why I tried 15... I let them talk me into it. Was horrid at night. Mind you, I don't tint the windshield, just the sides.

Looks really nice... maybe its just the way the pictures were taken but it looks like the ceramic must have a bit of a reflective property to it. I like it, looks cool.
