Default Window trim chrome delete

Being a lazy Sunday afternoon thought I'd see how it would look going a Matt finish on the chrome window trim ....neither here or there with it .... chrome does add that element of old school classy ... although the black does make the vehicle look a lot modern / athletic and if going down the black alloy path it'd be a no brainer

I like it Steve. I thought about doing the same but didn't want to wrap or paint in situ and worry about the mounting clips snapping. Actually I can't seem to find any direction on how to remove them if I wanted to anyway.

This is just a wrap mock up ....in terms of removing and reinstalling not fun at all extremely time consuming ...trying to feed the rubber back into the metal trim :/

much faster to get it wrapped in situ

I've used plain old black electrical tape for a temporary visual check.

I used the hyperdip emblems and badges kit. Made a mess of it the first time, but because it just peels off, caused no issues and got it right the second time. Good stuff.

Is the window trim stainless, instead of chrome?

I used the term “bright works”, because we aren’t positive that the window trim is Stainless, chrome or anodized aluminum

im not being critical of the “ black out” on the trim. I just think that the OEM treatment looks fine.

If Graham says its stainless, trust that. I assumed Anodized Aluminum because that was the trim on my 05 SV8. The trim on my 07 XK has the same cloudiness that my 05 XJ had, so assumptions were made:-)

I agree, as that is what my dealer told me as well, I just didn’t want to start a controversial discussion.

Fair enough...I neither here or there with it at the moment ...the OEM looks fab and ties the louvre & wheels in quite nicely I'm going to keep the blackout out look for a while and see how it goes however it's totally reversible.

LOL, well we are on a car forum but those aren't really "fightin words".

Now start an oil thread or a tire thread, that'll angry up the blood.

Well, I have been curious if you can use a synthetic blend oil, on the window trim....[

I LOVE it. And if you've got 2010-newer, that piece of vent (?) trim behind the front wheels is body-colored and not silver (I had a black car, so that piece was black). Because of that, I always thought the silver window trim stood out and not in a good way. This confirms it.
My Sportbrake came with the Black Pack trim, which looks great against grey paint. I like it so much I'm thinking of getting the black leaper and "Jaguar" lettering for the rear gate (comes standard with some newer models).

Welp... ends up they're on F-Types only and the OEM ones are impossible to get. So now OF COURSE I want one (I would ABSOLUTELY want one for a black XKR).
