So my 2007 XK 4.2 Convertible is in nice condition, has 46.000 kms, I entreat both the 2 workshops I use ( one Jag factory repair center, the other a very trusted workshop, specialising in doing real repairs, e.g. on Oldtimers, Trucks, Puch G´s )( I alternate between the two workshops ) to look for ANY thing that should perhaps be replaced.

I know, that my convertible top, especially the window, WILL fail sometime.

I KNOW, that it gets more difficult to get things, companies closing down, owner dies, do not anymore make certain items, as demand is dwindling.

So I had one company in Germany recomended for their convertible tops, complete with new rear window fitted.

Price for the Jag XK top in blue is € 1.718.

I intend to order this product, and store it until when I need it. I calculate it will be perhaps used in 1 to 6 years ( car then 20 years old ).

I learnt, that this top is ordered from an US vendor!

Now, if I deduct 19% ( = € 1.444 )( German VAT ), and further deduct 20 % ( dealer span ) I get € 1,203 = $ 1405, as the price in USA.

Do YOU know, where this product may be made??

I intend to order this top, and store it until needed. What I do not like is, that the interior liner shall be reused. I do not want a 20 year old liner in a new top. Where should I look for the best fabric to store, and how much should I buy.

What do you all think?

Check On Ebay US or Amazon US There are at least two top manufacturers that advertise tops for around $1,000. Also I recall an earlier thread by a member that recently installed a replacement top on his X150.

I have a coupe so others will have to comment on any experience with replacement tops.
