Default XK Convertible question

Didn't know what to call this, but the cover should close when the roof is down. Seems to have a line connecting to something but its broken. Does anyone have technical suggestions or experience with this?

Deleted the post as possible mis-information.

I think I spoke too soon. I watched my lid drop yesterday and that cover does move up when lid down and down when lid up. What does the other side do on your vehicle? It is attached and does not snap on or off. Sorry for the mistake. Look down in the well and see if its there. If you go to close the lid just a little and stop you can get further access.

I had this problem a few years ago where the part broke - had it fixed under warranty.

That little door is retracted by a very fine cable. The cable itself or the cable mounting is broken, or the door has become misaligned on its track and is stuck.
