Xk rear box

I noticed that my 2008,'s XK rear muffler has some sort of diaphragm on each side.
Is there something inside that moves based on exhaust flow?

Yes. Higher pressure, as when accelerating, will cause the diaphragm to move and allow the flow to take a less baffled route through the box and have a louder tone.
