Default XPipe and Muffler Delete - 2007 XK N/A

Hey Y’all,

Until I get to saving for a Mina exhaust or some other high end system, I plan on deleting the resonator, installing an XPipe and deleting the large pancake box muffler in the rear. This will be temporary - I need more growl asap but I don’t want to spend a whole lot right this minute.

It’s so hard to find N/A XKs with this setup on YouTube but the below link is a perfect example of my plan tomorrow. What does the community here think?

Why not wait until you can get the muffler upgrade you want? Removing resonators and muffler is going to make it sound like some redneck pickup truck.

Sounds nothing like a redneck pickup truck. It actually sounds throaty and still refined. And the difference in price for what I wanted now is the biggest factor as to why I didn’t wait. The entire job costed me $160 USD. Worth every Penny!

That's fine. It's your car so if you like the sound, that's all that matters. That mod is, however, going to kill your low-end torque.

I don't think it will hurt the bottom end, straight through would but the x generally helps.

Default Before and After Video Link

The X Pipe is the trick on the low end torque. I felt no loss of power while on the highway and this thing just feels perfect now. Here’s the link to a quick before and after.

I have noticed that these small-diameter pipes that run full-length and through an X-pipe don't sound farm-truckish for some reason. The cats may have something to do with that also.

Hi,
I'm considering the same mod but with the addition of 2 small glass packs. I have a 07 XKR, don't know if the difference in back pressure will effect it differently than a NA.

Much appreciated MyExcursion. There was one true XK NA video on YouTube with this mod and it convinced me that I had to give it a shot. Now there are 2 videos with this exact mod in this exact car on YouTube

I’ll post drive by and interior vids soon too.

Theres a little bit of drone on the take off at the peak of gears 1-3. After that it muffles down just right until you punch it. Highway serves very little to no drone. I will slide in some Borlas eventually, but for the low cost and ease in deletion/installation, this does more than I also expected. No loss in torque either, maybe 5HP gain based on its willingness to simply take off from a red to a green light.

Cheers!

Default Interior Sound

Here’s how it sounds from the cockpit. Takeoff was at medium throttle. I’ll post a flyby later when I have a co-pilot.

I like it. I may weld in an xpipe in place of the resonator at some point on mine as well. My muffler is also already out. This topic is for sure going to cause a bit of division between the folks here on this forum. Some keep it lowkey, and some like it loud. I understand both, but prefer loud. -- Is your jaguar screen frozen in the last video you posted?

Oh trust me, I know there will be a house divided among us. The most important thing is to do what you want with your property. I’m going to muffle it down eventually - just wasn’t ready to drop $900+ in one sitting. This mod is strictly for what it is right now - a weekend cruiser. And I wanted to add to the YouTube community as well as here. There just aren’t enough N/A XKs being showcased for ppl to decide if it’s some they want to try or not. The screen is not frozen, I just left the logo on for the sake of the video.

Here’s a quick highway video: medium high acceleration - didnt floor it because it hit 90 mph with ease.
