XK Reving by itself!
My wife's XK has developed a fault on starting! The car starts ok then about 5-10 seconds later it revs upto between 3-5 thousand RPM stays there for 10 to 20 seconds then settles to normal. Anyone have any ideas before I take it in to Jaguar. The Engine is the 4.2 by the way.

Spoke to Jag they said its prob the throttle position sensor or an airflow problem. My air filter does need changing, the pollen in NC was really bad this year it was like snow but have been putting it off so I could do it myself but it's not easy on the XK and have not had the couple of hours to do it. Will get the filter changed by jag as is only $20 more than me doing it and the sensor will be under warranty. Will let you know exactly what they find for future ref. thanks for the reply's

So to update for future ref, XK is back the problems, needed new software for the throttle and control systems as mine had been corrupted some how ECU was apparently ok. The engine warning light needed a new fuse box as mine had shorted out. While jag had the XK I got them to flush the brake fluid and they changed the wiper blades. My part of the bill $500 so not too bad I know the fuse box was $1144 I saw that on the bill I have a $300 excess on my warranty. The car drives a lot better and accelerates more smoothly and is def faster to 60 so happy bunny all round. Note to poss new owners get a warranty and if buying privately reduce price accordingly as you need one as this one incident would of been $1500 plus.

Yep personal finances a big part. I can afford to repair the XK but it's great if someone else pays for you. My warranty cost me $1900 for a 72 month upto 100.000 mile bumper to bumper with as stated $300 excess with a roof control switch that was fixed under warranty too even with paying out $600 in excess I have returned what I paid for the warranty and still have 70 months left! Let's hope that I have trouble free miles from now on, but if not lets hope that the warranty company keeps its end up, so far they have been great.
