xkr 2008 dvd player
i live in australia and i have just purchased a privatly imported {from UK}2008 xkr. the navigation obviously needs to be reset, can i just purchase a where is disc upgrade and install it or do i have to purchase a genuine jaguar one. i canot get the dvd player to operatenot sure if this is because of the nav system
Yes, Jag brand...Had to do the same thing in Hawaii. Got one off ebay cheap for like $35, but the thing is a piece of Cr--p compared to what you can buy from Garmin, Tom Tom etc. Hard to use, not user friendly and hasn't been accurate for me at least.
You probably paid in excess of $30,000 U.S.for your 08 xk. Suggest you bite the bullet and either speak to your dealer and/or buy updated dvd discs from Jaguar, Jaguar dealer or from Navtec. Cost about $190 - $200 U.S.
I do have issues with mine though because it seems to see every junction as a trigger for giving directions so if you are driving along a straight road with lots of side roads the nav keeps saying, go straight on. I therefore use mine with the sound down. I think my nav unit is a UK one on a Japanese car but I am aware of someone else with a UK import who has the same issue.
I also recently imported a UK nav unit for my wife's Subaru Outback and the Jag nav disc does the same in that as well.
