Default XKR 4.2 2007, What next?

Hey guys (and gals),

So ive been "challenged" by a friend in my car circle, we have a trip to Germany planned next year (Im UK based) he has a 640D running 420Bhp and 820nm of torque, my XKR has a quaife diff, reduced upper pulley, map, exhaust upgrade and suspension. Can anyone suggest anything else that may help me in a 100kph to 200kph sprint? Should I just strip out the rear seats and hope for the best? Working with around 3k I guess so sadly S/C upgrade may be out of the question.

I think you’ve done all the right things.
Just remember those episodes of Top Gear which tests “comfortability” over the long drive. Tuning is a fine line between comfortability and raw performance... perhaps rig up a serving platter and espresso machine in the boot to emphasize your civility and comfort. hope you choose some long winding roads on your trip as opposed to strictly the expressways. That’s where our cars shine.

You may do a lot of braking in the Alps, similar to track use (so think about which pads you use, brake fluid and so on).

Have fun but be safe

Majority of gain on these cars is in proper tune so , check your power number on a dyno to see what your getting. But for comparison my tuned 08 Xkr beat CTS-V with 550 hp 70% of the time , 12.5 vs 12.6 times at the track very very close and comparable in power. Also we raced with a tuned 2012 650i , with dynan intercoolers, Alpine reflash , downpipes and other mods and times were near identical 8.0 in 1/8th mile on both cars
