XKR Dynamic
I will be taking ownership of a new-to-me 2015 XKR 5.0 this weekend. I’ve asked my friend that is selling me the car, if it has the “dynamic” option. He didn’t know….. Which wouldn’t surprise me. He’s not much of a car guy. From what I’ve seen online, it appears there is a button with a checkered flag on it in the console, that enables Dynamic mode. If it has the button, does that mean it has that mode?

Not sure at all @bydand , insofar as I have never examined an XKR with the Dynamic Pack in the 'flesh'. When I researched the model prior to buying my car I learned all I could about the variations and how to spot them and more than one source said the Dynamic Pack brake callipers were black. After reading your post I looked at Nigel Thorley's book - admittedly not authoritative - and he he notes "distinctive black painted callipers". My sincere apologies if I've misrepresented this, and also if my research isn't valid outside the UK market.

Note that specs vary between North American and European market models. For example, the Pedestrian Protection System and Double Locking are standard equipment on European market models but are not available on North American models.
On my 2010 it seems like it just opens up exhaust flaps and is a little louder and may add more traction control, I hate traction control personally although without the button on I have notices that the traction control comes on when I try to get the car drifting.
I'm not aware of dynamic mode having any to do with how the active exhaust operates. Mind you, I have the fuse pulled on mine anyway.
Removing fuse F19 from the rear armrest fusebox disables the system, leaving the valves open all the time. This makes the car somewhat louder and growlier at low speeds. It's a free, reversible change that you can try out and then replace the fuse if you don't like it. It has no effect on performance.
As mentioned in a previous post, as far as I am aware dynamic mode has no effect on when the exhaust valves open and close as such.
Normally, the outer pair of tailpipes - the louder ones - are open at start and idle and then close, opening again only under fairly hard acceleration/higher revs. in a recent thread another member posted a table showing what conditions the valves open under but I can't recall where that was just now.

The exhaust valves on the 07 for certain and possibly through 09, are vacuum actuated by a pump in the left rear fender well up behind the liner. They "fail" open, in other words, are held closed by vacuum. You can remove fuse 19, or just unplug the vacuum hoses on top of the valves and plug the lines, cap the valve inlet. Since I was in there already for other reasons, I just removed the pump and taped up the electrical connections, cause weight reduction. At least 5mph faster.
2010 and up may use electrickery instead of vacuum, so the fuse would seem the only option.
