Default XKR Replacement shocks and brakes

Has anyone replaced the shocks on their XKR? Mine is a 2004 Portfolio car with 57,000 miles on it. I was told by a jag repair shop that the shocks can go soft just by age alone. Since my car has 20" BBS rims, they scrape inside the front wheel well if I hit a big dip. I was also told the shock plates also need replacing. The rubber or whatever is used flattens out. Is there a replacement for the rubber stuff or do you have to get the entire plate? They cost about $180 each plus cost to replace. I'm quoted $467 part cost for each front shock. I have the sensor type shocks. Can they be replaced with regular Bilsteins to save money or is that a bad idea?

Thank,

John

Sorry, you're in the wrong forum. You need to be in the XK8 XKR (X100) forum for the 1997-2006 body style. It's easy to mess up. This forum is the 2007-2015 (X150) body style.

Sorry, I bookmarked the XK8 XKR forum and thought I was there.
Thanks for the heads up.
