Default North Carolina in the central Piedmont

Autohaus Lake Norman in Denver. Bernard Tripp used to teach automotive classes at one of the technician schools in the Mooresville area. I drove an hour and a half each way in order to avoid the THEN Jaguar dealer in Charlotte. It was the first listing when I googled "ZF transmission Charlotte NC". Transmission refill and filter about 1/3 less than dealer quote. Competent. Often has several Land Rover vehicles in the shop.

I bought the transmission pan and the 6 liters of ZF-Lifeguard fluid from the eBay vendor recommended by David Christensen in post #6 above. I am happy to recommend that vendor as the order was promptly fulfilled and the price was certainly reasonable (compared to the Jaguar dealer price just for the pan). Each ZF fluid container was separately packaged in a plastic bag to reduce the likelihood of leakage.

Here are a few photos of those items. The fluid and the pan both have date codes in February 2017. Notice the direction to shake the transmission fluid before use...I had not seen that notice on other ATF, in the past.

Tucson Transmission gave me a price of $85 for the pan replacement and fluid fill, so I will have that done in the near future.

Patrick, did you also get the sealing sleeve. Cheap and can only be changed with the pan off.

I believe he's talking about the mechatronic sleeve. Pretty cheap part but can be a pain in the *** to replace.

It's a protective sleeve around an electrical connector. If it starts to leak, could cause more problems than merely a leak.

Sorry Patrick, I was thinking one thing and typing something else. As I said, they are cheap but can only be replaced with the pan removed. Here is one ebay source:

My 2007 has logged 81K miles. I had the transmission pan and fluid replaced yesterday at Tucson Transmission. The old pan was original based upon a September 2005 date code. There was very little debris in the pan or the two magnets. I did not have the mechatronic sleeve replaced.

As David C said previously, that repair outlet is very basic with regards to customer amenities, and that is fine. Their pricing is very fair and they did good work.

They have a very large work area and had a tremendous amount of work going on. There were several used transmissions lying around so I got a good look at transmissions from BMW, Volvo, Nissan etc. vehicles.
