Default XKR or XKR Portfolio

I'm curious about North American members with 5.0 cars referring to "XKR Portfolio". Here in the UK, as far as I can see, there were just three versions - XK, XK Portfolio and XKR, and the XKR came with Portfolio-equivalent trim/toys etc. Was there an XKR with a lower trim spec sold in in North America (and other places I suppose)? Or was the XKR just called the "XKR Portfolio" in North America?

The 4.2L.North American market XKR Portfolio was marketed as a separate, top-of-the-line, limited production model from 2008 to 2009 in both coupes and convertibles. All 2008 XKR Portfolio models were Celestial Black with Cremona wheels and all 2009 XKR Portfolio models were Shadow Grey with Selena wheels.

The limited production Portfolio models ended with the introduction of the 5.0L models in 2010. Sometime thereafter, Portfolio became an optional trim package and was not a separate model

…so… there was a non-portfolio spec 5.0 XKR in North America, yes?

My 2013 XKR vert came equipped with the XKR Portfolio Pack which consists of 20" polished Corona wheels (mine are no longer polished), chrome mirror covers, chrome grille, special edition door sill treadplates, Poltrona Frau Leather header, and Portfolio interior theme. All for an extra $4100 on the sticker price. In addition my car has the performance active exhaust. The car was built in July 2012.

Poltrona Frau Leather headliner 🤤🤤🤤

When you say performance exhaust did you get both in the respect of x-pipe and rear muffler or just the one item

There is both an xpipe and a rear box. I don't think there is anything else other than the catalytic convertors.

There doesn't appear to have actually been a US 5 litre Portfolio model, just the Portfolio Pack introduced for the 2013MY

Not standard equipment -- it was in the addon Dynamic Handling Package option for the 2009 Portfolio as well:
The XKR Dynamic Handling Package adds 20-inch wheels, Alcon performance brakes and revised damper and steering settings. The XKR Portfolio Package includes the Luxury Package and the Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and adds unique paint, special interior and exterior trim and contrast-color leather stitching. The Alcon performance brakes and adaptive cruise control can be added to the XKR Portfolio Package.
My portfolio has the standard XKR brakes.

Wow I don't think I have ever seen or heard of a xkr portfolio without the Alcon package!

"Alcon performance brakes and revised damper and steering settings"
Revised dampers I'm totally lost on that one I have been under the impression xk - black , xkr - green & xkrs - yellow (4.2L)
????
Ive never encountered different dampers on portfolio or steering rack / knuckles.....some one (Graham) needs to help dig on this

. Not to get off the XKR topic… Why does my 2010’s window sticker say 2010 XK Portfolio?

curt J is referring to the xkr 4.2 2007-2009 here .

The portfolio package became an option on 2010+

This is all fascinating, thanks! I wasn't paying attention to what was being offered here in the UK when the XK was in production but it's clear US XKR buyers had lots more choices to make than UK ones. Not that the UK cars were underspecified. As I said at the top, UK XKRs are 'inherently' portfolio spec. The sheet for my car lists everything I can think of apart from adaptive cruise and reverse camera in the way of toys/trim, and the only options added seem to have been the Aerodynamic Kit and something called R-Performance Braking.

The only models available in the US at launch in 2010 were the XK Portfolio and XKR so they should all be Portfolios. The XKR just got an optional Portfolio pack from the 2013 MY.

I want to clarify the confusion about Alcon brakes on the North American market 4.2L XKR Portfolio Edition models.

All 2008 XKR Portfolio Edition models were Celestial Black and included the Alcon Performance Brake Package and Adaptive Cruise Control as standard equipment.

For 2009, all XKR Portfolio Edition models were Shadow Grey. The Alcon Performance Brake Package and Adaptive Cruise Control were no longer standard equipment and became options at an MSRP of $5,000 and $2,200, respectively. That's why you'll find 2009 XKR Portfolio Edition models without Alcons and/or ACC.

Although the XKR Portfolio Edition wasn't available in the European market, you had a similar but more desirable 4.2L special, limited production model before the 5.0L was introduced. It was the first X150 with 20" Vortex wheels, my favorite design.
Euro-only 2008 Jaguar XKR-S

Note the confusion about Model Year and Registration Year. The final 4.2L model year was 2008 in the UK and 2009 in the USA. What's with that???
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...n-year-213607/

Hope this helps.

Stuart

I don’t believe Adaptive Cruise Control was standard on the 2008 Portfolio XKRs. I have a 2008 Portfolio XKR, and it doesn’t have ACC.
