Default For you rag top guys

What are you using to dress the tonneau cover when detailing the car.

I've tried many different things on mine, but nothing has been on the high-side of 'acceptable' yet so I won't even bother to state any. All I do now is scrub it clean with a soft bristle brush and mist on some Meguiar's trim protectant and let it sit. That doesn't look great by any definition, but at least there is something. Any contact with any type of rag, applicator or sponge I've ever seen will leave it all splotchy. That texture is murder to detail.
SO, jagtoes, once you find a good one you should get it added as a "sticky" for everyone to find easily.

On my older 97 XK8 vert, I used Ragg Topp until I found that I liked the 303 Fabric Guard much better. The 303 actually repels water and causes it to bead off. The RaggTopp would protect, but it would not repel water as well as the 303.

I use 303 in liquid but don't brush it on instead cut up grout sponge and use it to dab and wipe it on. Drips and runs are minimal. My top was shot by PO using a pressure waher on it took 6 coats to bring it back long enough to schedule a top replacement.

To the previous 2 posters, 'jagtoes' was not asking about the fabric top, but rather the cover over the compartment where the top is stowed.

I'm with Cee Jay on this, haven't found anything I'd trust on it to not stain, so I've just used a damp sponge to wipe off dirt and dust. If you find something trustworthy, please let us know!

Ah, I failed to read the post clearly refering to the tonneau.

I used a very soft bristle brush with a weak dish soap solution once....but I didn't scrub hard. It cleaned up well and since it has been just a damp sponge with clean water.

I'd like to hear if anyone has something better too.

Part of the problem is trying to find out what the material is. If we knew that then I would think there are products that can clean/treat it.

The type of material it is made of isn't the problem, it's the texture. The only thing I can think to compare would be 320 grit wet sandpaper.
