I am undertaking a 1956 XK140 FHC project started by others. In the next few months I shall finish preparing the bodywork ready for painting. The vehicle's original colour was Battleship Grey, but my plan is to paint the vehicle Maroon. However, I am struggling to find any paint codes or comparisons to other maroon colours used on more recent vehicles. I am therefore reaching out to find out if any one else has painted their vehicle Maroon (not Imperial Maroon) and how they achieved the correct colour mix. Any information would be appreciated.

Mk1 sedans in your 1956 era used a colour called Regency Red which was a light maroon.
I have painted a total of 3 MK1s in that colour.

Since writing my thread I obtained a can of Imperial Maroon, but this looks too dark. The Regency Red might be a good solution - I will investigate further and see if I can obtain a sample from somewhere.
