I am try to do a heritage certificate on my 120. I have a number that starts with a S I know is the VIN
I have a W # I know that is the engine number.
But, on the Driver side of the car, LHD, just under the hood, I have a J # is that the body #??

I also found a ##-# just under the VIN on the number plate. What are these?
Is there a Gearbox number other than located on the gearbox, its in the car so hard to see it.

Any help would be great.....
Thanks,

Do a Google search for:

jaguar xk + 1949-1960 + chassis numbers

This will return a link to a Jaguar Heritage Trust PDF of 1949 to 1969 XK chassis numbers by year. I don't want to upload the PDF here because it's a JHT copyright document.

If you dig deeper into their site ( https://www.jaguarheritage.com/ ), it has a similar PDF available for engine numbers.

Can’t find my vin in the heritage lists.
Thank you for guiding me to the Heritage page. The production year 1953 does not start with my Vin. It starts with 680572 number Mine is 680328. Does that mean it was built in 52 for the 53 model year?
thanks for your help.

Jaguar used to start the new Model Year in August/September after the factory summer shutdown so the 1953 Model Year commenced in the final months of 1952.

This confusion remained until 2014 when Model Year was harmonised to start with Calendar Year. My 2014 XK is 2015MY which was introduced in January 2014. Harmony didn't last for long and my 2017 F-PACE is a 2018 Model Year introduced in August 2017.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate your time. I figured after looking around it was something like that, so thank you for confirming that. I am glad you took the time to let me know. Thanks again.
