Hello Everybody,
Well, the journey continues as I work on restoring/preserving my XK140. The frame is done, painted inside and out. There was no rust at all, but it was still a tedious job cleaning, pressure washing, cleaning, sanding, wire brushing, and, of course, cleaning getting the frame ready to paint. The frame is quite intricate, so, the painting itself was no easy task. With that finally done, I’m now starting to attach all the various parts and mechanisms, like the front and rear suspensions, the engine, the gearbox, etc. The latest challenge is that one of the front lower control arms is bent. It’s part #C3013, and I’ve copied in a picture below. Same piece on the left and right side. Before I begin the process of trying to straighten the part, I thought I’d reach out and see if anyone has a straight one that I could buy. Or, maybe give me a lead on where I might find one. Any help will be most appreciated. Thank you.
Borron Owen
I noticed a lot of views and no suggestions so I thought I would chime in. Give the folks at XK unlimited a ring. They carry a lot of suspension parts for classic Jags.
Thank you, Vern, for the reply. I actually called Don Green at XKs Unlimited a while back, and he said they didn’t have the part, but recommended I check the usual spots like the Jaguar Forum and ebay. Nothing’s turned up there yet; however, the good news is I think I’ve found one through Jolly Rogers Motors. Andrea and Geoff have been great in helping me. They’ve already shipped the part, so, I hope to have it in the next day or do.
Hi Borron, I'm in the process of redoing my whole front end of my 59 150 and the same part on my car has a little bend in it too. To me it almost looks like it came that way. A good alignment guys should be able to shim out the bend. I wouldn't try to straighten it I would be afraid you might weaken it. Anyway that is my 2 cents worth.
