I think you are stuck buying the whole control arm. The rearward arm has a replaceable bushing. I have the same problem and I am looking into bushings for other cars as possible replacements

I remember when I had to replace the lower control arms on my Lexus. I whined about how each of them cost $250 or so. Now I have a Jag with air shocks that can go bad with little notice and cost $1500 each. It really puts things in perspective for me!

all these high end cars have oil filled bushings and motor mounts including the electronically controlled type. They are all super expensive and in most cases the manufactures redesign them after thousands of failures. They redesigned the ones that go on the Phantom and they are no longer oil filled. I replace them all the time. I need to measure some of the bushings in my parts dept to see if they will fit or come close to fitting. On the subject of front struts, Arnot Industries has rebuilt units for about $400ea. They also have a lifetime warranty. My car needs them but my VW is in the bodyshop draining my savings account, so they will have to wait

That is the solid bushing for the rearward control arm. The front one is oil filled and not available as a separate unit. Maybe we are talking about two different arms? Gaudin has the same thing for $30, you can also look at it in the illustration

I'll have to double check with my technician. He printed out the diagram and identified the part # from alldata, so I will have to see if it is correct. Thanks for the heads up. JP

Sunbugone, do you have a part# for the arm that contains the oil filled bushing? You were right about that other bushing, not correct. I am still trying to see if there is an alternative or after market without much success. Thanks, JP

The lower control arm, complete with all bushings (sometimes called the wishbone arm), is part # C2C026835. It was avail from Welsh enterprises for $285.95 as of 1 yr ago.

The oil filled bushing is part # C2C026267 but hard to find seperately anywhere due to the difficulty installing it, apparently requireing a press and special fixtures. The Jag parts list calls it out but I don't think Jag sells it seperately.

You will need a front end allignment after replacing the lower control arm but if you pay carefull attention to the position of main wishbone arm alignment bolt, you can get it in the ball park. There was a description of this whole opperation about a year ago. Do a search in this forum or Suspension & Handeling or General Tech Help and you may find it.

Thanks very Tarheal,

I called Welsh and they are 495 each- yikes!

Are the wishbones left and right side specific or the same?

Wow. That's quite a price bump! According to my parts list, the # is the same for R&L lower control arms. So it looks like they are identical. Your supplier can verify.
If you'er doing this job yourself, be aware, it is possible to install this part upside down. Don't ask me how I know this.

P.S. look in Gen Tech Forum for "lower wishbone arm replacement" from a yr ago. It's all there.

Thanks Tarheal,

I looked up your post, very helpful. I am going to order the wishbones and have my indie replace them next week. I can't believe the price bump from last year. It sounds like these fail all too frequently. JP
