Default XK150 Lift points

Using a floor jack is it OK to lift the rear end via the differential housing? I noted the dealer did this when I asked to have a look under the back of the car. I have been trying to get a correct photo of the best places both fore and aft then to place jack stands. Anybody help?

Under the diff is perfectly OK, but put a baulk of timber between jack head and diff casting, so you don't damage the drain plug.

Oh, and don't forget to chock the front wheels !!

Thanks Fraser. Now the points for the jack stand. I assume it is OK to jack up under the frame forward that has the gussett from the mainframe. Looks sturdy but where to fit the jack stands? Aft I suppose under the center of the leaf springs but what about front end? Cannot find anything in the user manual or service manual. I suppose it is too basic a question.

Sailor, I have never jacked up a chassis car, only monocoques, where it is fairly easy to determine the jacking points. For chassis cars, I suppose anywhere on the chassis members and cross members. You do need to be cautious as even these can rust through. Does the owner handbook not have anything, (if you have it) ?
