Default How Many Miles On Your Cat? Highest Mileage??

Saw this in a Range Rover forum and it was a lot of fun to read.

How many miles are on your XK8 or XKR and what major components have been fixed?

Keep it short so we can all read and enjoy while at work Monday.

I'll start -

2001 XK8, 117,000 miles, no major components replaced. Basic maintenance (and tensioners, water pump, starter, t-stat)

Ding Ding Ding - I think we have a winner! 230,000 miles is awesome. It gives me more faith in my car!

What parts have you replaced?

Click on the link in his post above regarding his twin screw kit to find out what parts he has replaced. Be prepared to strongly desire his car after you do a bit of reading....

Please post a picture of your odometer please. I want to show it to my Blue Cat to give her something to shoot for! Kudos for keeping a well maintained car.

Cool

White Lightnin' has 89926 and I just put her away today until next spring. I use her sister Green Machine, which has 83000, from Oct - Mar. I just use each for 6 months.
BTW my Bonneville only has 12000 on it.

The '64 Bonneville is my favorite year with the gold and white colors and older tank emblem. I would love to have one. I restored a '66 back in the eighties but the '64 really rings the bell for me. Can you post a few pictures?

I am not even close! 89,000 give or take on my '98. Since I have a full history, the car has done 21,000 in the last 7 years, of which the last 8,000 is mine in 18 months.

On my bike I have done 3,000 miles in 6 months. (670 past weekend in the NC, VA, TN mountains!) But it is always so difficult. Convertible or bike? Both are such exceptional and fun driving machines.

avos - 230,000 miles! Thanks, now I know what they can do. I met somebody local that had 180,000 miles on a XK8.. think it was a '97.

72,800 on my '00 XK8, and so far, without any major problems.

Avos, if you don't mind, please include me on your will as the heir to your XKR.

Smile 40,000 on my 2005 XKR

OK, mine is 40,000 miles on a 2005 so about 35% of the UK average & owned from 3 months old (not me the car , lol)

Work carried out:

General servicing
Front & Rear upper/lower wishbone bushes
Headlamp conversion kit (to stop the condensation)
2 x HID units on one headlamp (because it kept leaking)
4 very minor dings in the bodywork removed
Front bumper re-painted (after the wife grounded it one day)

That's it, she sits wrapped up and loved in my garage and I use her with the top down (convertible) when the sun is out and most of the mileage has been through Europe , love going down to Switzerland and Austria through the Alps and spending time driving.

Maybe one day they will be true classics and the value will rise, either way I think they are iconic cars.

I am at 32.5K out of which 8.5k have been put on by me during my 11 months of ownership.

No issues so far but I have the infamous "whoop" in the transmission (i think between 2nd and 3rd gears) and the dash has developed a couple of annoying rattles so these will get fixed next service around.
