Default If your trunk (boot) lights are out...

this may be of some help.

My lights and "trunk open" dash display hadn't worked for a few years so I decided to fix. I assumed it was a bad switch so I ordered and installed it. The lights went on so, satisfied with my job, I closed the trunk then reopened it ... no lights! I popped the switch off the latch again and tried it in my hand while still connected to the harness. It worked perfectly.

This switch has a "hook" that goes into the latch first, then snaps in. I made certain that it was snapped in FIRMLY, wiggling it around while pressing it in. I have opened and closed the trunk at least twenty times over the course of two weeks since finishing the job and it now works perfectly every time. Later I checked the original switch with an ohmmeter and, of course, there was nothing wrong with it.

I hope this will be helpful to those who share the same problem -- do what I should have done in the first place and test your existing switch before spending (wasting) an outrageous amount of money on a new switch. The whole job is very easy.
