Default What's in a name?

We humans tend to anthropomorphize the things we interact with, swearing that machines have a personality and even going so far as to give them names. I have seen a few mentions names when referring to our cars, and I will admit that I have done the same. So...

Does your car have a name? And if it does, how did it get that name?

I will kick it off...

First some context: The mother in law is the sort who uses the imaginary brake pedal when she is a passenger. And the sort who puts her arm in front of you when braking hard to keep you from flying through the windshield. It's sweet really, she's the protective sort, a real caretaker. Her name is Judy.

More context: My R coupe has the adaptive cruise control, the driver alert system and reverse sensors. You can probably see where this is going.

I learned about the adaptive cruise behavior on the drive home from buying the car (1500miles) and the first time it put the brakes on it scared the bajeezuz out of me. Thank you Judy, I see the other car coming into my lane.

Also, when I got the car, the driver alert feature was stuck in the "on" position and you talk about annoying. Every time someone pulled in front of you: BEEEEP. Every stop sign: BEEEEP. Every traffic light: BEEEEP. Yes Judy, I see the brake lights.

When I back out of the garage every morning, BEEP BEEP BEEP. Thank you Judy, I see the garage door too.

So, the protective car is named for the protective mother. It's all in good fun, my better half is on board and the real Judy even knows about it and isn't offended. Honestly, if were going to have a car named after you, there isn't a better looking one.

Let the stories begin...

I named mine Elizabeth, Beth for short. Car is too good looking of course, and when I was getting to know her when I brought her home, I related her beauty to this really hot volleyball player in high school which was the first girl entering my memory...her name was Beth. I believe there's a rather famous Elizabeth over in the UK, so it all just kinda fit together with her history and appearance.

Default Three Jags - Three Names

My wife names ALL of our cars - Our 2003 XKR Coupe in JagRacingGreen has been dubbed.... "Sir Hiss."

Sir Hiss, the slot-toothed lisping and hissing green snake from Disney's 1973 animated film - Robin Hood

Sir Hiss.... "The Keeper of the Royal Treasure" if you will

Our 1995 Black XJ6-R was.... "Nigel Tuffnel" - A Spinal Tap character who most certainly would have driven a car that he would have claimed could be "None mooor black."

Our 2001 XJR She named: "Hubert Cumberdale" from a David Firth character in the popular 2005 flash animation series on YouTube called "Salad Fingers." Hubert Cumberdale, because I found a rusty spoon in the trunk - laying next to the battery!

How about one of those snooty aircraft carriers that turn their nose up at everyone?
