"one owner"? wow. that's hard to imagine.
you'll see very nice looking late 90s XK8s, with bad engine or trans, in the 2500 range quite often. as bad as that one looks I'd say it's a parts car, but you never know.
here's one that needs an engine………... and maybe some different wheels
Jaguar XK8

or this one closer to you: http://oregoncoast.craigslist.org/cto/4888860234.html

I'd buy the second one myself if it was closer to me.

There's two coupes on the Honolulu Craigslist for $1700 each.

I just thought the owner's description was so delightfully positive compared to the pictures

The only damage is a repairable hole in the front bumper (a body shop friend of mine says it can be repaired) and the right front headlight lens was broken (and they are available used or new- less $$ than you think). No damage otherwise.

No offense to the seller, but is that a mobile home on cement blocks in the background? Might have picked a better photo location.

Just remember kids, a cheap Jag seldom is.

Specially a 1800 Jag. These are not old Ford or Chevy cars where parts are cheap and plenty. I would think about it before you jump in the pool. Many of these end back on craigslist unfinished and still a mess which will be hard to sell. Spend the money and step up to a nicer one.

There are plenty of 97-02 XK8s in good condition in the $7-9k range. In the long run they would be cheaper than a 2k car. Here's one on Craigslist that even has the secondary tensioners done.

Default That's my car......

Guys- Thanks for checking out this poor old XK8 of mine on Ebay. Isn't it a shame what condition these get to considering where they start?? This belongs to a friend of mine (original owner) who let his 17 year old son drive it for a while- I think that explains a lot.

From here it either becomes a parts car or maybe someone with a few good extra XK8 parts (like a motor) can bring it back. While the cars really aren't worth much whole, they can bring good $$ in parts. The front end body parts that are good would bring very close to what I'm asking for the whole car. But once you go down that road.....

BTW, the Jalopnik comments are hilarious.....

It's good that you can be objective and have a sense of humor about the comments. not a common thing with many forum users these days, and I give you huge props for that.
The car would be a great start for that 1/4 mile drag car posted a few days ago! or maybe even a street ls swap hot rod.

Default A thick skin helps......

Yeah, it's good not to take all comments literally. Because this car is priced so low it has really brought out the masses on Ebay. Most of them have never touched one of these before so have no idea what they are getting into. A few questions were funny- folks asking for a 50% discount on the price because they lived far away and had to pay for shipping . Sorry about that. But the listing has had over 7500 (that's not a typo) page views aft 4 days which is amazing. And all we need is one buyer so we'll see what happens.....

This forum is great- I've been on here forever. The members here actually touch the cars, do their own work, and share the knowledge. Other sites, maybe more users with callouses on their hands from typing rather than holding tools, if you know what I mean....

sometime I may be looking for a 97-02 for the GM LSx conversion. For me the car still needs to be clean, all the "gadgets" in working order just a drive line that is dead. To many of these cars have ate up interiors, tops that are iffy, various interior stuff broke, busted lights. A lot of that stuff is hard to find and costs a lot to replace.

I think you missed a nuance in there.
It says "one documented owner".
Never mind the seventeen owners without documents!

Then again, if that were true, I'm sure somewhere along the line it would have picked up some clown car wheels like your second example.

I'm on a few different german car sites for Audi/MB/BMW. Take it to the dealer is not helpful. Talking constantly about rims and legendary Mercedes build quality, not really helpful. Some are more helpful than others.

This is definitely a nice site. Jaguar owners often are not afraid to dig in and fix their own ride! It's not that I can't fix my own car without the helpful guides many forum members have written, but I definitely like saving time and effort by learning from others. The fact I have learned about cross references to save on parts (like secondary tensioners, cam cover gaskets, rear view mirror parts, etc) has been quite helpful too.

These cars are cheap to run and pretty straightforward to fix. I like them a lot for that!

Don't worry! We'll soon have amnesty for undocumented owners.

I could not agree more. Even less expensive that $7k in some cases. No reason to buy problems when there are so many in good shape for next to nothing.

or this one closer to you: 97 jag xk8 cunvert

I'd buy the second one myself if it was closer to me.

Sorry, it could well be that i have a problem with the English language:
the first car "needs some (or more) engine work" and the second "needs motor trade.
Grows Jaguar-V8-engines on trees???
