Default ‘XK 97 plate

Question about license plates, specifically on 1997 xk8(or similar)….i’ve had my carnival red convertible for nearly 3 years , and while I do have two plates, it has never had the front plate mounted , no evidence at all. Living near Sacramento(California). I know the law is that front & rear plates are required, but I see a lot of cars without front plate. While my beautiful red cat is VERY visible, I do try to not be too obvious about catching the wrong attention…CHP.
Any experiences with this plate issue?

My son got a ticket here in Va for not having his front license plate on the car. I would love to delete mine, but it wouldn't be long before the law got me. It seems to vary from place to place, even if they are required in the state. I heard one guy say he carried the plate around in his boot just in case - you might be able to get away with that.

LOL! Yes, I do keep the “extra” plate in my boot organizer ….Took a friend on a fast drive on the highway 198 , towards Sequoia Park(mountains), he told me to open her up and I did(car top down). Did 110. He’s a Sheriff’s deputy…

Utah requires 2 plates, but my understanding is that you won't be pulled over only for a missing front plate.
I put on a euro plate with the same numbers. Never been stopped.

Wow 110. Good for you. Front license plate? Based on the million Teslas w/ just one plate, not really an issue. I don’t have front plates on either Jag. I also keep the “extra” plate in each car just in case.
