It's like all four were unplugged at same time...inop with cd or with am/fm...is anyone familiar with likely cause/solution?? My guess is likely an amp issue but would appreciate any experience/input. thanks to all in advance

 

Well, all four speakers at once?...yah, sounds much like an amp. Is the subs(rear speakers if you have a coupe) working? I assume you tried every source (AM/FM/CD/tape...if you can find your old motley crue <- ) Check the fuse first, if that is good...you should try power at the amp, then signals from the amp out to the speakers.

Check out our FAQ page at the top of the XK8/R forum, in Gus's links, you'll find electrical schematic information that'll help ID wiring in the entertainment system. If you give up the hunt, drop another note here, and I'll email you the schematic. If you don't have a Jaguar Technical Information System CD yet, find one on ebay or download from the links in the forum. Its full of good info, including the schematics.

Now, after saying all that, worse case scenario, if the amp is toast, you're in luck. I have mine sitting in my garage now from an '03. Its been deinstalled for a couple years, and I just sold off the cd changer and head unit (at least I think I have) to other xk8/r owners on here, and I could offer you my amp. Guaranteed to work. My price will be less than half of what any salvage yard or ebay auctions are bringing. I just want to clear out the garage. You don't have PM privileges yet, so repost here if your interested.

hey thanks Water.., ops check with casette tape (sans cobwebbs) nets same result. Rear subs and front dash speakers function ok. I've got to change the infamous brake switch and will check fuses today. Give me until this evening to commit to your amp...I do appreciate your offer. What area of FoatWuth are you in? 'spent 5 yrs there myself on the west side flying little airplanes outta cafb. thanks, Paul

I actually live on the other side of the lake from the air force base, in Saginaw. Usually never notice the pilots except when they do late night maneuvers or practicing those touch-n-gos with the big cargo planes.
