01 XKR no crank no start
01 xkr sat with a dead battery for quite a while
Got a new battery, now it just no crank no start doesn't even click. Was running fine till the battery died.
Light shows
asc not available
transmission fault
Failsafe engine mode
incorrect part Fitted
low brake fluid.
Not showing any codes that might explain why

This may help you, it removed a failsafe / no start issue I had once:
turn the ignition key to the on position, but don’t engage starter.
Step on brake
move shifter from P to N and back and forth several times, then leave it in the N position.
turn key to engage starter
May be voodoo, but worth a try as the cost is zero

I had most of those same faults the other day which I was able to clear with the iCarsoft LR V2.0. I had the same symptoms where the car wouldn't start at all. It seems the failsafe and anti-theft wouldn't allow the car to start. When I read the codes I also had some CAN read errors in gearbox and ECU. My problems appear to originate from the ABS module which I repaired over the weekend and haven't since returned. May not have anything to do with your issue. If you don't have a code reader which can clear these faults, perhaps the reset procedure where you remove the negative connection from the battery and short the negative cable to the positive cable would clear these faults.
STILL NOT FIXED... also obd2 port is allowing the check to start but will not finish. It would let a cheap craftsman to read it until the problem started but did not work for autozone oriley or other store obd2 units.

a lot of cheapos can't read it over ISO\global obd. autel can and the $5 ELM327 can.
Is the dual linear switch getting powered? if you have no P\N signal from the ECM to the linear switch, you get no injector pulse. If you have no P\N signal to the BPM, you will have a no crank
an 01 will start with CAN isolated from the ECM.

Make sure the new battery is fully charged & also measure the voltage (after you crank a little) as far away from it as you can.
Yes try an ELM327.
Would it do this if the car thinks it's not actually in P or N?
Er... are we talking about the 01 or 2005 car???

Well, now I’m joining in with a ‘15 XKR ‘vert, suffering early onset of dementia. Occasionally, when I try to start…no dice. No clicking of the starter solenoid, just some weird weak sounds from the engine compartment. Following, my advise above, I took the battery to a local shop, and it tested perfect. Very strong in fact. So, I reinstalled the battery…twisting my previously bad but surgery fixed knee in the process. And guess what? She started right up…and no problems until a few days later. She did it again yesterday morning. Thinking maybe I had a voltage distribution issue, I checked the voltage at the fuse panel in the engine compartment…and it was good. So, I disconnected the negative cable on the battery and jumped it to the positive lead. Reconnected, and she started right up. Then no problems.
After sitting all night, I tried her this morning…and she fired right up…with that satisfying rumble.
im just beginning to diagnose her disorder. And will be hooking up a friend’s OBD scanner in a few hours.
The disorder hasn’t happened enough to draw any statistically significant conclusions. But, one thing that seems to precede the issues, is running the car in accessory mode the evening before the issue occurs. It only seems to happen following running in accessory mode, such as when trying to marry the kitty’s built in garage door opener to the house garage door opener. Even then, the voltage seems normal, like 12.4 or so…yet it won’t start. It will go into accessory mode, and the infotainment comes up, lights work, etc. But, when pressing the start button…just get some weird noises but, no attempt to engage the starter solenoid.
Has anyone ever had such a disorder? I’ll update later, when I get the codes.
So, for now I’m carrrying a 10mm socket and socket wrench, and jumper, to do a reset of she experiences the issue while away from my garage.
BTW, I’m not sure it’s best to tag onto this thread, or create a new one. If I don’t get many replies…I’ll create a new one.
Here’s the codes: (all intermittent)
U0140-00 Lost communication with body control module
U0155-00 Lost communication with instrument cluster control module
U0156-00 Lost communication with information center A
U3000-55 Control Modile
U4000-87 Cintrol module
B1B01-67 Key Transponder
B1B01-87 Key Transponder
U0199-00 Lost communication with the door control module A
Historic:
B1B33-87 Target identification transfer
