Default '02 XKR Broken Rear View Mirror

A little plastic piece on the neck of the rear view mirror melted (Arizona, 115 degrees) and the mirror flops (wont stay up). Dealer says I need a new mirror, $479 (ouch!!). What are my other options? I dont usually use the autodimming if that makes a difference. Thanks for any help.

I would find out what model years work for your mirror and if there is cross over to the XJ. There are several on eBay motors. Used would be perfectly fine for an interior item like this. Jagbits has a few listed... do you have the rain sense wipers? Looks like that is the key item. Everything is in the mirror, automatic headlights, etc.

So funny you just posted this because the same thing happend to me but mine just broke and was flopping what I did instead of paying the crazy new price was to get a small hose clamp that you can adjust with a screw driver and tighten it to the very back of the mirror like almost right on or the ball or touching the very back of the mirror. well atleast that worked for me.
